I said in in one or two posts a while back - Carroll and Suarez get in each other's way because there is not a clear enough definition of which one of them is to create the play. Both hang back, which means that quite often Suarez has to be a target man and Clumsy Carroll the playmaker. That's not necessarily their fault either, but rather that of the man who's sent them out there to apply his loose guidelines on poorly defined roles.

Even a fool can see it's not working, most understand it's not necessarily Carroll's fault (or that of any other specific player), but unless he's a threat he shouldn't be anywhere near the bench, and right now he's the joke of the EPL (and how the English press love to lambaste their own). Given that Suarez is going to be banned for both charges, we will be without a single capable striker until January, by which time it may be far too late to save either our season or Dalglish's job.

Sorry, King Kenny, I have a lot of respect for you, but it's become a fiasco and you need to start making the right choices. You're still better than Hodgson, but our standard of play has not improved in 6 months, and right now we can see that it's all starting to unravel. The pressure is causing the squad to implode. We have no recognized DM for our next few games. We could very well have no one capable of leading the line once Saurez attends his pair of hearings. Gerrard is still essentially AWOL. Carragher is over the hill. And that's before we get to the money spent for no improvement in our play, because we still pass it around like a team of strangers! (not that the money is as much as everyone claims, but it's looking pretty silly nonetheless)

In short one can look at the events this week and see the worrying signs that all is beginning to fall apart. Regardless of whether the FA intends us harm specifically, their charges could not be more perfectly timed. So King Kenny, the honeymoon is at an end, and you need to do some soul searching in order to prevent us from continuing to stumble from one mishap to another. Unless Maxi and Kuyt come to the rescue again we will be in a lot more poo come the transfer window, and you can bet FSG won't be quite so willing to spend this time.

I know a lot of this sounds like an over-reaction (and maybe part of it is), but we look as foolish right now as we did when Hodgson said beating Everton would be utopia. The press is loving it, and you sound like Wenger, who also never sees anything. Man up, fine Suarez for continuing to be a prat (because unless he wises up he will continue to get no "protection" from officials who see him and his strike partner hit the deck very nearly every time the ball comes near - so they're obviously diving, and Liverpool is therefore trying to cheat by inference), and instill some steel in this side.

Well Thundyr good post and something to think about. My thoughts Kenny was never going to sweep all before him and even fourth place was a challenge. One I think that is still possible provided we can an emergency striker in Jan. I think he is still finding his way in football and you have to say he has wasted potentially £50 plus million in overpaying for Henderson and totally wasting money on Carroll and overpaying for downing or buying Downing at all.. Had he dealt more intelligently in the transfer market and thought more carefully about the tactics we would have been much stronger. He could not have predicted Lucas injury and then the next game Spearing is sent off for something that was not a sending off that was bad luck. However I remember clearly Kenny from 1991 and I am not going to go into that now because it’s a different era and probably not appropriate. However I said when all the King Kenny stuff was going on pre season on here that if it went badly fans would quickly turn and they are starting to. You can’t blame fans for being fickle we are paying enough at £50 a ticket and have the right to be fickle. I don’t think we should go down the road of Kenny going we have to give him 2 / 3 seasons BUT his next transfers have to be the right ones or Henry won’t stand for it and he will be out of the door fast.

I don’t feel sorry for Kenny. I feel sorry for the breadwinner with a huge mortgage and two kids who has just lost his / her job or the small business owner who after many years hard work is seeing their business go to the wall. Kenny is a millionaire and football is a results business. Of course a results business does not mean you sack him at the first hint of trouble. But he has to be accountable it comes with the job. And there is no question he has made some errors for me the biggest was the majority of his transfer outlay has not delivered. If I can spot that you can bet the man who laid the cash can too. But we are a long way from seeing calls for him to go. However the sign of a good manager is not one who never makes mistakes but how quickly they can spot it and rectify it. That is the acid test for now and let’s see how he manages that challenge. He does have a lot of stock because of his legend status but that’s rope that has an end to it and Kenny will know that too. Should we get behind him now yes, should we ignore errors no.

the only realy bad tranfer gaffe i can see that hes made is carroll and that was a clanger i know but i dont get the henderson bashing, he had another very good game the other night, looks like a very promising player to me.
charlie adam a bargain at 9m
enrique 1 of the best left backs in the prem for 8m
bellamy free transfer and still does the buisness
coates looks a very promising centre half for 10m
downing is one that you could have an arguement about, he has nt delivered but looked a great player last season and i and a lot of other liverpool fans were hoping we would sign him.

we are in transition and it could take us a couple of years to be back up there competing but we are moving in the right direction for the first time in a long time.

Downing and Carroll £55m. Delivery zero more or less.

Imagine (and we have right to) that money was spent on 2,3,4 players who were delivering. Not many managers blow £55m and live to tell the tale. I know the odd one will always be a disappointment but proportionately that is big. Houllier spent all one years transfer budget on diouf and diao and he never recovered. But as I say it’s how Kenny manages out of this that we will see his mettle.

Jees, Thundyr - I am surprised at you. This sounds like a rant to me and whilst they are all points of discussion you are way over the top.
Or pattern of play has improved significantly and the new players are starting to settle. we have had great performances from Suarez, Enrique, Adam, Bellamy and good performances Coates, Henderson and early on Downing. Thats 6 new first team players + Coates. Only Carroll has been disapointing as a whole.

I would analyse each game this season and tell me what you see. Apart from Spurs we have been rather good in the whole. The style of play is attractive and the side is alot younger than last year. We could play the same team for the next 3 seasons and nearly all would be under 29. Baring in mind most peak at 27/8yrs.

We are not getting the rub of the green and some players and fans are getting frustrated. Hopefully saturday we can up our game a little and get those points. I have no doubt the performance will be ok, would be nice to see some goals though and get everyone back on side.
