The only inconsistency we show is not scoring. The only reason we would not be in the CL again is because of the striker issue.

The point is we need 'a' Van Persie either on loan or from shelling out. Can't see Defoe doing much more than Bellamy.

Take a guy out of another league and what is the chance he's going come in like Suarez did? Slim to nowt. Huge gamble at this point in the season.

Most fans could probably accept it if the club make it clear we won't be held to ransom in January then buy right in the summer as I honestly feel we are improving as an all round team. It's holding the big names that is the real concern if we fail again to get back in.

Can someone explain to me why Suarez needs a strike partner? Serious question. Does Torres need a strike partner? No. Why do we persist with square pegs in round holes, when we have experience playing with a formation of square holes?

Suarez needs ball on the front foot, like he gets from his team mates in the Uruguay national side. In case we've forgotten he's lethal for them. Suarez needs to be less play-maker and more finisher, so I'm battling to understand all these calls for a poacher when we already have one (and often have a second on the park in Maxi).

We need a playmaker, but KD doesn't seem to want to give Henderson that role in the center of the park, and Gerrard seems to think he's Xabi Alonso rather than Steven Gerrard. We have two fantastic wide-players in Bellamy and Downing (right and left respectively), one of the best fullback partnerships in the league (Kelly or Johnson and Enrique), and what should be a solid midfield of (Lucas), Adam, and Henderson/Gerrard. Surely the following team picks itself?

Yet how many games have we actually played like that? Only the league game against Chelsea, and even then only after AVB subbed Mikel?

However when playing for Uruguay Suarez is partnered by Forlan and Cavani, two out and out goal-scorers. I know he scores stacks for Uruguay and did for Ajax but he seems be very deep and trying to create all the time when playing for us which is why I think we need a Hernandez type striker. However in the current situation I would be more than happy to see the team u mentioned start every week.

Orginal post was about what good can sometimes come from an emergency striker such as Rosenthal did for 6 months. I know we wont get him but as an example someone like Defoe would be ideal experienced striker coming to the end of their career but still good. The other example that paid off jackpot wise was Cantona what did Fergie pay for him £1m? You never know whos out there until you try but whoever was the scout who thought Carroll was the answer suggest we lock him in the melwood storage room.
