True. There seem to be less room for errors and our rivals don't seem to be dropping points as often. I suspect we might need to go as high as 75 points to get CL spot.

Completely untrue

In the 2007-08 season after 11 games we had 21 pts on the board

P11
W5
D6

Not to mention the 2001-02 and 2002-03 campaigns when we hjad fsr more ots oin the board at this stage

Why do people make stuff up?

Stats my ar5e! It's all ifs and buts. If anyone gets excited and optimistic about those figures they need a damn good kick up the bracket!

And why the figures on 'net' spend? What we have spent/recouperated makes no difference to our league position so it's not even worth discussing. The accuracy of 'net' spend would only interesting if the league was based on handicapping system where the lowest net spend got a head start and the highest were penalised.

They are not even genuine stats though - this is far from liverpool's best start for 9 years and i simply just don't believe that net spending analysis or see how it's relevant

even if it was our best start (which it's not) we haven't faced any really tough games yet - given we're still to play man utd, city and chelsea away from home

no stats can deflect it';s been an awful start to our league campaign and if we are still to have a chance of cl qualification we need to get 4pts from our next two games - which i can't see

we got 6 pts from the corresponding fixtures last season but we were a better team then

Nice spot on the error Tonez for the "After 11 games stat". As I put in the post I found them across the web so I cant vouch for their accuracy. Was too busy to check them out.

As you say net spending is of course not an indicator of how the season is going. It is handy though to judge how financially efficient a club is which will be useful for when the financial fair play rules come in eventually.

It hasnt been a great start. Too many draws where we should have won. The conversion rate of 9% is the reason. Fingers crossed for a goal scorer in the Jan window.

I think that's right An

The most frustrating thing is had we converted just slightly more of our chances we would be up there if not with city, certainly with Man Utd and Chelsea - and comfortably ahead of the likes of Tottenham and Arsenal - our main contenders for that CL spot

An out and out goalscorer does seem like an obvious solution and who knows but reading into today's comments we might get quite a big one come January
