First year NET spending under new owners compared to others:
MCFC-£117m
Chelsea-£153m
LFC-£38.05m

After 11 games into the season (apart from 2008/09) this is the best start for Liverpool in the past 9 years.

Premier League Champions League Qualification average benchmark is 69 points. Liverpool now need 51 points out of a possible 81.

Considering Liverpools current form (if we play with the current points to games ratio) it will take Liverpool to 66 points at the end of the season. 3 short of the benchmark.

Liverpools current goal to chance conversion is 9%. Spurs 17%, Arsenal 19%, MCFC 22%, MUFC 22%.

If Liverpool had managed to match MUFC's and MCFC's chance conversion (22%) we could have potentially scored 33 goals so far.

All the facts were taken from the web so I cant verify how accurate they are. So read at your own peril! cool

People don't want to take into account 'net spend' as it is too much hard work to calculate and in any case the figures never are 100 percent certain - noone knows the exact details of contracts and bonuses etc.

But it's common sense with the departure of players like jovanovich and even poulson - the money doled out every week which was drowning the club in debt (added to hicks / gilette repayments) The club saves money every week in comparison to 18 months ago.

I still think they could go out and buy a big name in attack (winger or striker). Hard to see if they go and buy a striker but I would do it, and use carroll as another option (should we get into europe)

I think all depends on what position lfc get at the end of the season. European football will allow KD to justify progress with demand for more money. I hope he goes out and buys a Spanish , dutch or south american player and not an English one

I have some stats for you:

90% of this forum will not be happy regardless of the information in front of them

The other 10% are wasting their time with statistics as they seem to be above the intelligence level of the average hater!

Reading the first 90 % of that post took me about 90 % of the total time used.

The last 10 % took the other 90 % of the time used. whistle

I give you another stat - The reason why our net spend is so low is because of the money we clawed back from Rafa's signing - namely fenando torres and even N'gog at 4m etc.

Yet people here continue to blast rafa for 'wasting' money when at the end of the day, he probably earned more for the club that spent anything after taking into consideration the sale of all his star signings - nando, xabi, masch, etc.

Now that's a real stat for you rafa-bashers.

While the stats seem interesting, there is one problem. Our rivals have advanced while we are left behind. What considered a good start for us now or in 08/09 is not good enough for mancity or arsenal this season. We need to improve rapidly to catch up. Also, apart from the 08/09 season where we finished 2nd, the other seasons were disastrous finishing out of the top 4 a few times.
