Maxi must be a very confused man by now.

He went from Athletico to Liverpool bearing in mind he would perhaps not be playing every game with us. After all LFC is supposed to be a top flight club in Europe (oh, we aren't even in Europe this year!!)!

The team is now under achieving, and has been doing so for quite a while - and still he gets 0 game time.

It would have been different if we had signed top class players keeping him out of the starting XI, but Downing, Lucas, Adam & Henderson... For fux sake!!!

Agree with the last few posts there.. Maxi needs to start ahead of Downing next game, Kenny should be picking players on form and not their value

Would you guys be slating Downing if Carroll had finished?

He obviously didn't play well today but if Carroll puts the ball in the back of the net, it's an assist for Downing and farking good one at that? Maybe if that goes in at the 7 minute mark, then game is totally different!!

If it is the champions league we after- Downing is not the calibre of player to get us there. At best he is squad player coming off the bench. I do not rate he football brain. Can disappear in game. I would go with Bellamy and Downing coming off the bench.

I wanted Bellamy to start on the left myself, though I'd have to say he didn't do much when he did come on, though to be fair to him he only got 10 mins or so. Downing has the ability to be better, but is off his game for some reason. I think a rest would do him no harm. I can understand Kenny trying to develop a settled 11. Given that we have 5 - 6 new players its important to find the best and most compatible combinations and that takes time as every body knows, so I can see what he's at, just a pity Downing goes off form at this point. I think it will come right, given time.
