i wouldnt want thompson, no ways! lol
I reckon we wont see a change until the year end. so lets not chat bout new managers. but f i had a choice..
Dalglish...would have to be number one! Sorry I could'nt have Kenny Dalglish as manager, he will go down rightly as our greatest ever player but for me he is the man mainly responsible for the clubs demise in the 1990's. I know Souness gets the blame and he deserves to have the finger pointed to a certain extent but Kenny lost the plot completely towards the end of his reign which in turn left Souness with a near impossible job. My own preference would be Guus Hiddink, he ticks all the boxes and wont cost any compensation in the summer when his contract with the Russian national team expires. Guus Hiddink has won the games major honours, worked with the biggest name players in the world, can get more out of an unfancied team like what he did with South Korea in the last world cup and Austrilia, has fantastic man management skills where all top players speak highly of him and want to play for him, doesnt conduct club business in the public domain by trying to score cheap points over his bosses like the current fool we have now does, and can turn a clubs fortunes around in a short space of time like he done with Chelsea by winning the the Cup and finishing third after a disasterous season, the man has also now got valuable premiership experience which will stand him in good stead, the only spanner in the works would be if Chelsea dont do well and sack Anchelotti because Roman Abramovic will snap him up straight away, the key to the whole thing is the timing, we have to make our timing spot in if we are to get him in the Summer.

I know all about the Hillsborough factor, but the fact remains towards the end of his last couple of seasons he let the players grow to old until it was beyond repair, the team Souness inheriated had about 8 players out of the 11, 30 years and older, this was one of the main reasons of the clubs demise.

I think kenny left on a great note, he lost to arsenal in the last minute, then he went on to win the title right!
Now how do we know what kenny would have done if he didnt leave? Lets assume he didnt leave, im sure he would have bought 4-5 players in to fit his team.
Souness broke down the whole structure and tried to rebuild it, that was were we went wrong in my opinion.
They usually say in football you never go back, there are countless examples of those who went back and left again.
The problem with trying to lure a big character manager is the fact that they have a reputation to uphold, that means they want big money. Take murinho for example, if he were to come to LFC? He woould want to revamp the squad 70% of the players he will want to change, Lucas, Voronin,Insua,Aurelio,Ngog. Muinho wont be content with Ngog as backup for torres. Yea.
So its a catch 22, i agree on hiddinks reputation, but will he want to manage a club like LFC with the current situation and owners? What if you told murinho "you only have 2million to spend on a 3rd defender"?
The sea, will be the sea, whatever the drops philosophy!

What if you told murinho "you only have 2million to spend on a 3rd defender"? i personalt think the club neede a major overhaul, the ols regime which served us so well in the 70s and 80s was completely out dated, the boot room as special as it was was finished because the people who made it were no longer there, we had players like Grobelaar, Venison, Nicol, Hansen, McMahon, Speedie, Molby, Beardsley, Hysen and Rushie all the wrong side on 30. Souness tried to drag the club into the 21 century with training camps in Italy, dieticians and no boozing, the same ideas as managers like Wenger do now, Souness problem which he admits was he tried to change things to fast and hey backfired spectaculary.

Hiddink for me....Great manager and has done a super job with the lesser teams of the world. A manager who demands respect and has the players playing for him!!

Hiddink for me. Maybe Del Bosque. But they will both need funds to get in the players they want.

What about Klinsman Only joking. I agree with Emp that O'Neil would be a good choice. If not we should maybe try and un-earth some fresh talent, someone who's young and will want to work hard and win things. I don't know who that would be but I just feel that always going for the big names isn't the always the right way to go.
