You realise these players will cost 30-40m each. There is no way we're in the market for those players, we need money from champions league first before we step it up to that level of purchasing.

the club spent about 70m on 7 or so players last summer, and about 57m on 2 last January, the money is available with current owners, the key is spending it wisely on a smaller number of class players.

and looking back at other clubs spending last summer, the rate for a top player is at 25m and it goes higher if their is an auction, Liverpool can get Gotze and Erikson for as low as 20m, the price for Hazard will be inflated next year

Don't forget we recouped over half of the money with the sales since last January. I hope we can spend that big on quality proven players but it doesn't look that way at the moment especially without european football.

So a lot of this is a waste of time but I'm just showing you that the owners didn't actually spend that much so there is no point linking us with all of these 40 million players. Obviously the owners had to come out straight away and invest some money into the team to win over the fans straight away but don't expect to see that every transfer window. When you compare our spending to the likes of Chelsea, Man U and City then we have no right to be up there with them in the league!

thats my point swoolsey, the big sums we paid seem to mask what we sold sadly but in reality we haven't spend much 40m as you calculated. There is no way we will spend 40m on one single player, not just yet.

I don't think we ever will spend that kind of cash on a player. Prices are coming down and we do not need to get involved in those kind of purchases. Usually massive wages as well, this alone would destroy what we are trying to achieve in terms of squad harmony. Erikson, Goetze yep I'm in and <20mil.
