The other thing is seeing as lfc under KD play a lot of possession football, this explains why other teams dont often get near the goal especially at anfield so I would imagine nearly all goals come from quick counter attacks. So then you would have to point at the pace of the centre backs ie carragher or disorganisation and frankly any team with johnson in it is gonna be disorganised when defending. Not that i am blaming him just trying to work out the reasons for that statistic. It s pretty interesting

johnson shud of been alot stronger against holt and shud of got in his way, wen the cross came in.

you can't blame johnson because reina made the choice to come and collect but missed.

This is the problem I have with the current Liverpool side. They simply cannot win 1-0, cannot keep a cleansheet. Its very frustrating because even promoted sides defend much better. We had a good game overall with many chances but I really cannot remember the last time we won 1-0.

Just a correction or two here - Skrtel deserted his post vs Bale when Agger got injured (moved to center, call by Carra), but Downing didn't realize the issue. It was a mistake but not one we can really put down to any single player. At the time I also felt this was Skrtel's fault alone, but actually it wasn't. We were all off, and it was a very good finish.

Kelly didn't play vs Sunderland - that was Flano standing marking no one at the far post. He's 18, and will make mistakes like that at this stage of his career, sadly. Still a good prospect though.

The honest truth is that LFC has a history of giving away goals - who can forget Arshavin scoring 4 all off defensives errors? The problem right now is that we're not balancing these gifts with clean sheets like we usually do.

Part of the reason is that against teams like Norwich we could score 2-3 and they would not be trying too hard to get on the scoresheet themselves. Torres and Gerrard were so good we didn't need to defend that much in many games. Now because we battle up front, we're forced to rely on our defense more, and the cracks that have always been there are now exposed for all to see. And something else I said a few months ago comes back to me: Suarez creates a lot of chances, but misses the target FAR too much for my liking, certainly too much for someone who scored 49 in a season.

Thats the thing about a leaking defense, bit like a leak in your central heating system...easy to see the results, but hard to pin the exact location! It leads to a lack of confidence in the defense as a whole, which in turn leads to panic under attack, causing even your best defenders to make mistakes, so it all becomes a mess. If Kelly and Agger could stay fit so that the defensive four of Kelly, Carra, Agger and Enrique could get a run of matches together and build understanding and confidence we have a chance! We need to get to the January window and invest in two top class central defenders and if theres any funds left sign back up for Kelly and Enrique and ship out the others!

Id agree about the defence,if only we can keep them fit i think it would develope nicely,i feel tho we need a good dm who can defend the area and run the show from there to take some pressure off, as yet what we have got is not cutting it,on a positve note what we have could get better,not that we have a lot of time to waste but we are where we are,lucas has improved but we can all see hes still not top notch.good attitude tho!.sadly that doesnt win trophies .
