he won't leave this summer, hope not for another 7yrs but in reality city or barca are gonna come in with mega offers. still would love him to play till he was 30 then sell back to a.madrid I disagree, i think he will play bulk of his career here at anfield:) He seems a dedicated bloke with passion for LFC. Maybe the comparisons with kenny were justified, a loyal servant for a club, a true legend. On the other hand, we replaced rush, aldridge, Fowler, Owen etc as long as we a big player in the sense we playing for titles, we will attract big players. If that saudi comes in, and we build the new stadium, i reckon we will be guaranteed to attract big players.
The sea, will be the sea, whatever the drops philosophy!

Not worried about City getting him. They can make a huge offer, but in reality, Torres is already a multi-millionaire, and Liverpool can make him a very big offer too. Plus at Liverpool he knows and respects the manager, he is playing well, and he is first on the team sheet. At City, they have about 7 strikers, he'd have to play for Hughes, and I just can't see him doing that. He is unlikely to play for Real Madrid, so Barca are the main worry fo rthe future.
I think he'll be here until Rafa leaves or is sacked. If that happens, he'll wait to see who is appointed, but probably make plans for Barca. The whole point of the matter is Torres left his belovered Athletico to win things and in all honesty the medals that make a good player into a true world class one are not going to be won playing for Liverpool and thats unfortunately why he will leave. People need to understand he's a professional footballer and he has to do whats best for his career and not do what his heart might tell him and thats why he left Athletico. In two seasons time Torres will be in his prime at 28 and by then he will have to sign for one of the giants of the game who will provide him with the platform to win the games honours otherwise he wont be able to sign a contract for more than 5 years and his chance to play for one of the big boys will be gone and thas why i see him leaving either this summer or deffo next. If he stays loyal to a club who constantly finishes in the top four and qualifies for the quarters or semi's of the champions league each season he will have to settle for a career like Gerrard who was a fantastic player but will never get recognised as being world class because he never won the medals his fantastic talent so richly deserved.

Torres already has won the European Championships with Spain, so lets not pretend he is a player who desperately wants to finish his career with a medal. He already has a great one. He's playing in the best league in the world (yes I know Barca are the best team, but the Spanish league as a whole isn't as strong as the english league), he's playing in the best club competition (the champ league) and we're competing for all of them. He doesn't need to go anywhere. If he leaves, he can only go to a team in the same position - that is, challenging for domestic league and champions league every year.
If we were out of the Champions league though, then he might want to leave.
Dont talk silly Liverpool are nowhere near the Clubs United, Madrid, Barca or Chelsea are in terms of chances of winning the major trophies each season. Liverpool compete in just two competition each season the Champions League and from last season the Premier League, United compete for all four trophies each season and came within a whisker last season of winning the lot a feat which has never been done, thats how far behind we are.
obsessed with utd. they couldn't give a crap about the league cup, they got a handy draw so what, thye have been beaten by coventry and southend previous to last yr, they also played a reserve team in the fa cup semi final and lost ,so they could care less for that either. there is only two real cups, only aholes count the league cup or charity league as some kinda victory
Well am afraid it's aholes like us that need to start taking those league and F.A.Cups serious because beggars cant be choosers and we unfortunately are beggers now. If you havent noticed we dont win leagues no more, we have won one european cup in 25 years and are currently trophyless for the last three coming up to four. If that does'nt mean we should be taking league cup,s and F.A.Cup's serious then i dont know what is, am astonished your writing them off so easily given the fact we are no longer the club we used to be

we might not be the club we used to be,but we are trying.
we are the runners up in england so we are the second best team in england, last yr we beat the spanish champions out of sight and ours and the spanish are the only leagues there are . we also have nando and stevie . now whilst i despair at and anticipate rafa's systematic failings to rear their ugly heads again, yoju can't but accept that he has done a fair job at the club, i do believe he will have to go for us to take the next level and that maybe hard for the club we are not the second best team in england though are because Chelsea are, we were only better over a season, overall we are third best team behind United and Chelsea. Liverpool are no longer a big enough club to win leagues anymore unfortunately, the club does not have the money or the players any longer to do it, i know we finished second last season but lets be honest it was a false position. That was the best season we have ever had in our premier league history, least defeats, most points, most goals scored, unbeaten against the top three teams and it still was'nt enough to win the league against a United team who in all honesty only had an average season by there standards. Dont forget at the same time United fought on six fronts, just missing out on a clean sweep last season while we fought on just two which says it all about the gulf in class in both teams. A good season for Liverpool Football Club is a top four finish and an F.A.Cup or League Cup win, and I think another manager could do that for us thats why it makes better sense to give someone else a go after this season and bring someone in who will make the football better to watch instead of like going the dentist.

It's great to have a 'supporter' like ged on here isn't it. Just when we start thinking we are producing some good form he pops up to make sure we don't get carried away with all these goals cause Torres is going in the summer. Thanks ged, what would we do without you?

people are taking about us not being as big as chelsea chelsea are not even close to being a big club they are a rich club it's a joke people talk about chelsea being anywhere near to us in the big club stakes man utd and liverpool are the only two big clubs in england.... and no we can't compete with utd because they get to pay 12 million for a player and just play him in the reserves (tosic) and no one cares they also payed 16 mil for nani and 16 mil for anderson but it doesn't matter that they haven't done anything good yet but when liverpool sign a player for more than 10 mil he has to be a success straight away glen johnson is the most recent proof of this financially we cant compete with these teams but they are not bigger than liverpool FC because liverpool FC is more than a football club
