So the summer transfer window slams shut and at some point or another people are starting to think about January.

Having read through many posts I keep seeing "2 or 3 top quality players in jan and well be right up there" or something along this line.

But my question is, who? im no scout and I dont have and endless knowledge of players out there, but who does everyone think we will bring in, or can bring in that is willing to come to a team with no champs league as things stand, that fit in the the owners criteria and are still world class player?

adam Johnson would seem like a no go since city arnt gonna let him go, especially to us, Eden hazard keeps springing up but i recon arsenal might grab him and after that i run out of ideas...

Marko Marin... Hopefully. I think the lads class. He would be excellent back up to Suarez and could play off the right wing.

Marin would be my number 1 target said it all summer ahead of any one that's been linked with us IMO he's class

Just a thought but with 2012 coming up will Adam Johnson not be pushing for a loan till the end of the season to guarantee 1st team football. Plus I like Marin shout as could do with a skillful right winger. What about a target striker to give competition to Carrol? Mario Gomez from Bayern?

Cahill is about t enter talks with bolton over a new contract isnt he?

And even if Johnson does get a loan, i really cant see city allowing him to come to us?

will we not be able to get him on a pre contract to come in the summer so Carra can have this as his las full season b4 taking a backseat? Plus with Coates we don't need another cb

cahill is more of an immediate replacement for skertl and having the option to rotate between carra, agger and cahill with coates been eased in depending on how hes faring would be a very solid back line

Its hard to identify targets for January as its so early in the season. We don't know who is gonna get injured or who wants out so its too early to judge. That being said, I would love to get Cahill and A.Johnson in January!

in that case, so far Cahill and Andy Johnson are the world class players that if we signed in january would turn us into genuine title challengers...

IMO that isnt going to happen, no denying they are both great players that will add something different to the squad and improve it, but are they really the missing pieces that are going to excite us and give us the edge over other top teams?
