all this carroll bashing never stops does it? kenny said we have signed him for 5 years and in that time he'll have chance to improve. give the lad a break, just got off the mark against exeter and now has fabio capello telling him he must improve... potentially damaging for his confidence imo but possibly the kick up the backside he might need.
the way i have always seen it... torres went for £50m and with that cash we got suarez and carroll. not a bad swap if you ask me. ok £35m is a lot of money but newcastle did to us what we did to chelsea.
lets allow carroll to rack some starts under his belt and find some form this season before we go writing him off. look at edin dzeko at city last season... the lad couldn't hit a barn door and now he's p!ssing goals left right and centre. if i remember correctly peter crouch went through something very similar while he was settling in at the club and he became very prolific in the premiership and the champions league.
when carroll has actually played i don't think the players around him have played particularly well in terms of service either. its not like he misses many chances, he just hasn't had a great deal of them imo.
i think its about time people stopped worrying about money and actually started supporting their football club. get behind andy carroll and start backing the manager.
That may well be "how you see it" but it's not the case. We already had Suarez in the bag before Torres left.
And a lot of people keep saying that the £35m fee does't matter because we got £50m for Torres - sorry, but that's just some bullsh1t that Kenny(?) came up with to try and disguise the fact that we got robbed.
Carroll's value is whatever his talent/potential dictates and has nothing whatsoever to do with what we got for Torres. Put it another way, would you pay over the odds for a ford capri just because you got a good price for your BMW?
