Gerrard can do both and that depends on the game and the players he is supporting. When he drops deeper to collect the ball, he will try to dictate the tempo of the game through little flicks, one touch and cross field ones.

when he plays with someone like Torres who likes to run into the channels and likes over the top through passes, he will do that too.

when he was 24-25, he was the one of the best attacking midfielders we have ever seen in a red shirt.

we need him back and we will find a place for him in the team. but he has to earn it.

I think he should be eased back into the team and for the first few games he's selected for should 20-30 mins. The last thing we want is for him to come in like a bull at a red rag and get injured again. Ease him into the team as they are now beginning to gel and we don't need too many disruptions. This way the new guys will get used to how he plays in real games and not just training.

Adam had a hip injury playing for Scotland. wonder how bad it is?

Did you watch Istanbul? If not you should really go watch that and look at him defensively because he got put at right back near the end of the game and I'm not even exaggerating he was brilliant. He is one of the best passers in the game. He has scored so many freekicks, I'm shell shocked that you can even say things like this, and he has gotten a lot of assists from corners, if he was crap at them 4 managers wouldn't put him as first choice to take the set pieces.

I think he can do a few positions, would love to see him right behind Suarez but not sure if his legs can take it. The other position I would like him to fill is DM to replace Lucas sometimes. I know he has a few issues defending but I just feel if he was instructed to defend by Kenny he would have no problem doing that job.

I just hope Kuyt takes the penalties. He is deadly there. Adam should take the corners.

I think he will get the Penalties when he gets back but the corners and left-footed free kicks will be left for Adam and Downing.
