35 million for a plan B... Do you think this is a problem because of his price tag? To me its no problem whatsoever, lets compare this with our rivals shall we? United: Berbatov (32m), Valencia (27m), Chelsea: Many expensive names but if for the sake of things lets put Torres (50m) because lets face it, he will not start all games if he continues like this. City: Do I need to say anything here? Balloteli (24m) Just because he cost us that much, it does not mean he cannot be a stumbling block to our success. If he does not perform, put him on the bench, put Kuyt or Bellamy on. If we are going to start Carroll purely because of his price tag, believe me we will have many problems and it will become a barrier for us winning games. Kenny is taking every game as it goes, and has already dropped Carroll so he is not that stupid to make that mistake. The fans need to realise that we are not the only club to have made a big money signing only for them to find themselves on the bench. We need to move forward and Carroll on the bench is sometimes the way to go whether he cost 5m or 35m.

Thanks mate, I just think people need to see it the way it is really, our rivals have 50,60 odd million players sitting in their bench so why can't we? I still believe Carroll can become a great striker he needs time, to adapt to our pass and move.

people are happy to see it that way.rafa made exactly that point what you state about man u bench.so why should lfc be different. my only hope..and the savation of the situation,,,is that carrol is indeed a benchwarmer because lfc are a much better team with suarez and kuyt..or bellamy..together up front than with the cumberson caroll looking for the hit forwards to him all the time.no problem with him on the bench.excellent if that is the case.

I think he must of seen that through his crystal ball. After all he did say that Adam and Hendersen will be our downfall in the future. He must of seen the future once again...

But Liverpool are in a slightly different position than those you mentioned. We are playing catch up. The price tag for me isn't an indication he should start, but while a 2nd top top striker was needed to partner or back up suarez, a top right winger needed as well, 35 million becomes an issue as one could currently perceive that it could have been spent better. Now it is very early doors here, Carroll might and hopefully will be everything we all want him to be, but if we (perhaps foolishly) go on just what we have seen of him already, the 35 million is an issue as it was not spent as wisely as it perhaps could have been. Of course there are a wealth of things to discuss in why the club felt they had to act then and there for carroll, such as not being seen as a selling club, keeping top players happy that money will go back into the club among other footballing reasons etc. But Carroll, so far, and as I said it's such early doors it's barely worth musing on, was not the best plan B we could get for even half that money. Which will be the bigger issue should he not 'come good'.
