I noticed andy carroll wasn't even on the bench for england's game against bulgaria. That's tragic considering he's a british record signing n is supposedly unplayable to defences.

I'm starting to feel that we're worse off than everton. At least they got 10m for being mugged of Arteta. We paid 35m for carroll!

He's looked poor-average at best in 3 games. Why is it a surprise that he has not been selected for the national side?

Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master.

I think we all agree that Carroll was over priced, isn't yet playing up to standard and disappointing to say the least. He still has time to prove us all wrong though.
I don't think carrying that price tag has helped at all though. It's a massive burden.
I'm not going to speculate and say he's going to come good. He may he may not.
He simply didn't play cos he's not fit enough yet.

I'm not sure I agree entirely with that. I think even Kenny knows we overpaid for Carroll, but he had the go-ahead from FSG to spend the surplus from the Torres deal in order to get his man and to make a statement of intent that Liverpool are not a selling club and are very serious about getting back to the top of the league.

It's now up to Kenny to show that whatever he sees in Carroll is not illusion, that he can do it though training and through building a squad that can bring the best out of him.

Carroll scored 11 in 18 EPL appearances for Newcastle, and got his England call-up as a result of such form. People like you seem to think he will never regain it. People like me have watched Kenny Dalglish turn unknowns into super-stars before, so we're willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for now and see where Liverpool and Carroll are at the end of the season (18 months into his 5 and a half year contract).

I think it's far to early for you to be so dismissive - he may come good or he may not, but continuing to say he is rubbish is only going to help him fail. How about trying to be positive so he can have something to build on? Isn't that our role as "supporters"?

no i disagree.a suporter should call it exactly as it is and as he sees it.first and foremost.
i keep hearing this 11 goals stuff.so what thats no credentials.interesting to see if any pens ,who against etc.
as for turning unknowns into superstars who do you mean.barnes was always going to excel no matter where he went.others like mcmahon beardsley were good players anyway.
then some like mcdonald houghton spackman were decent and became good players for lfc..not superstars though.
aldrigde had been banging 40 goals a season in right from garston woodcutters through to oxford united so the clamour on merseyside for lfc to get one of their own at lfc grew.kenny brought aldridge to lfc and aparently both wives had a fall out, always thought aldridge is a bit ungrateful for just what kenny did do for him.he could of left him at oxford utd and his career would of been alot diferent.

Then you and I are different kinds of supporters. I'd prefer to give 100% support to a player wearing red up to the moment when the manager decides enough is enough. You never know. He might go 11 games without scoring before going on to become a Kop favourite.

I believe Lovenkrands or Ameobi took penalties for Newcastle. Given that only 2 players had scored more league goals than him when Liverpool signed him (one of whom was Berbatov who'd scored 8 of his in 2 fixtures), I'd have to say that's quite a recommendation.

I disagree with that one for a start. He was playing for Watford and no one cared. You've also forgotten Alan Shearer.

While I don't think that Carroll is on the same class as these players, I do think that Kenny will make something out of him. You seem to disagree.

as with crouch..30 games no goals but the crowd could see he was trying and eventualy he knocked them in regulary..only to be strangely dropped!!
most though you will hear shouting get him off or wtf did we see in him hes useless...as in lucas konchelsky, insua etc..thats caling it as it is.
i say 35m was way out for caroll and would of been better utilised elsewhere.you and others think not.i dont blame any player.id sign for the money wouldnt you.its the one calling the shots that must bare responsibility.kenny in carrols case.
barnes did stand out at watford.it was clear he was brazilian like and he was always going to a top club.

Lucas genuinely was rubbish when we signed him, despite his awards won in Brazil. But now that Mascherano is gone he's shown what persistence can bring - persistence not only on his part, but also that of the manager.

Given all the stick he got frankly it's amazing he stayed, and now that we're beginning to see why Benitez was so incredibly stubborn about playing him perhaps we understand how rare a player he is. So rather than test his endurance as we did Lucas, who frankly had nothing to lose, I'd rather we stood by Andy Carroll because he's got 35m pounds worth of albatross around his neck.
