Do you think that we will make a bid for Cahill in January or try to sign him on a precontract? how does it work exactly? if we bid to sign him then but hypothetically a team he can't turn down , ie Barcelona etc, try to sign him on a precontract, can the club accept our bid and he can only discuss terms with us or is he free to talk to whoever?

Dont know how it works,I think he needs to turn down a new contract offer first,to be able to sign a PCA.

As far as I know, pre-contract can be signed with anyone as long as he is intending on leaving the club, but that means we must wait until the next summer to snap him up on a free. If we are going to get him in January, he will cost a transfer fee, as he will still be under contract.

....and we've just signed a new centre back so Cahill is probably off the radar (not that he was ever on it).

I think we will go back in for him in January at a cut-price, yeah. I think Spurs will go back in for him and possibly Arsenal too. I can't see Skrtel still being at the club in say, 2 years time, so I think there's certainly room to sign him.

for 7/8 million it would be a good signing. anyone think the Scottish connection will be of use? ( both managers scottish)

theres definitly scope for a player going to bolton on loan as well and the bolton chairman won't exactly be showing a preference to arsenal either

I think we should still try get him. Agger is injury prone, Carra aging, Skrtel makes me nervous both as a person and as a player for my club, Coates hasn't even found his locker in the changeroom yet, Wilson appears to have sunk, and Kelly is one of the best right backs in the league.

So we need another center back.

Bit harsh on Wilson, needs more time. Skrtel isn't terrible, hes just decent. Carra is ageing we can't avoid tha, and Agger for me is a belter if he can stay fit. Kelly is Kelly, goes without saying.
