The original plan was to pair Torres with Suarez. What a line up that would have been. Had we got those two together we would be seriously going for the title. I am sorry but Carroll looks to be nowhere near the class of Torres. Of course all this is academic because Torres wanted out and I know how hated he is by reds fans. Whether Carroll will make the grade I don’t know I keep getting told by my mates how good he is and I keep waiting to see. I have not given up on him yet but normally a top player you tend to see class straight away.

i dont think carrol will ever been seen as a classy player.we need him to be effective more than classy,but saurez oozes class.if we go on improving as a team he could go on to be one of the best players we've ever had at the club.

Seriously we all said the same things during Torres' first season - best player since Fowler blah blah blah.

He is not the messiah yet but he is proving an astute signing for us so far. Legend, well not quite yet but we have certainly grown to like him very much

I don't think it would of been as great as it seems. Torres has flattered to decieve so far in a blue shirt, funny the media are saying oh he is back to his best, just like he was at liverpool whereas when he was at liverpool they were saying "he is nowhere near his best, he is past it, he is not interested anymore". Its the same Torres for me and its not the one that scores 25 goals a season. I would much rather give Carroll the chance to shine, I think he will come very good for us in the years to come.

With the right service Carroll will score goals,he could be extremely usefull when playing the likes of Blackburn,Stoke,Wolves e.t.c who like to stifle the opposition and be extremely pyhsical.

I agree about Suarez, But Carroll £35m is an awful lot for an effective player. You should be looking world class for that bracket Augero was £38m. Is Carroll really just fractionally behind Augero?

The Carroll price tag is a bit false,we were shafted,he is a 20m pound player only.

If he scores 20 goals or more in his first season, then that will go a long way to repaying that price. Im just not happy with the service to him so far in those 2 games, hope it improves.
