I posted a remark that Carra seems "older", meaning his speed of thought is slower, he's slower (never the fastet CB in the first place) and he seems generally uncomfortable with the position he is playing!

Perhaps a young defender should now step up to the plate? or will Benitez persist with Carra?

Of course, not playing Carra would deal a further blow to his confidence!

i dont want to comment on if hes past it or not yet,,,
there a bit confused the cb and correct me if im wrong but is it the first time this season hes rotated skrtel to rcb and carra to lcb??? that only tells me hes getting ready to start playing skrtel and agger (lcb) together, which they didnt really get a run together last year

either way past it or not... its good to start setting up a near future established younger defence to have it ready and im hoping thats what benitez is gna try out with agger, and give him till summer to poove his long term fitness

to be honest he is well past it, and has been for the past 2 seasons.its a question of how many pens will his lack of pace cost us this year. he's been a great player player for lfc in the past but his time has come

playin him wrong side ain`t good for him , it`s like a right handed man trying to write a letter with his left hand , but still , time to bring in more young blood , strikers know that they can now get him with raw pace , but what about this Insua bloke , come of age or what , better pairing maybe Skrtyl and Dagger , a bit more height in the box too !!!

i love carra but i do think he is struggling this season for defo ...... seems hard to believe he can be past it though at his age but everyone ages at a different rate so maybe he has just gone over the hill

yeah it looks like he has lost it. he was never the quickest or the best in the air but his reading of situations was always top class. maybe we are writing him off too early, remember how many times sami was "past it" and he kept proving everyone wrong. i hope i am wrong this time

Today was the first time I looked at him and saw a player coming to the end of their career. I don't think we should consign him to the scrap heap just yet, but I see Agger (injuries permitting) and Skrtel playing together sooner rather than later with Carra taking up the Hyppia reliable back-up role.

maybe offer him to man city for £100 million. worth a punt

Very sadly, I agree. He's been going off the boil for the last couple of seasons now, and I can't see him getting any better, only more and more of a liabilty.
It happens. We all get slower as we get older. That's life.
