It looks like Mata may just be staying put at Valencia for another year. Apparently he's not up for a move to Spurs, but is interested in going to Arsenal. They've missed the deadline for the clause in his contract, so i can't see the penny-pinchers of Arsenal stumping up the extra cash for a player they could have got for €10m cheaper last week. If he stays put this will be good for us, as in an ideal world where we finish in the top 4 this season, regaining CL football, it'd put us in with a good shout of signing him next summer if we're interested.

i'd rather sign marin or albrighton ahead of mata they're more my cup of tea.

Once again, take it at face value, and read into it what you will. Heard something similar last night - which I posted in the last page of this thread. No smoke without fire? We'll see anyway, hope it's true.

Well we need the LB position sorted sooner rather than later. I wouldn't mind Enrique but wouldn't want to pay the figures quoted earlier in the summer.

As an alternative, I saw that the Russion fella at Chelsea may be going (forgot his name). He looks a good player for LB or LM.

You're a jerkoff(Yuri Zhirkov)? If he was to leave Chelsea, i couldn't see him coming to us, or even Chelsea selling him to us. Didn't they pay a small fortune for him? It was definitely into double figures if I remember correctly

The problem with sorting out our LB problem is that if it happens, then Johnno has nowhere to hide anymore!

He seems to be out of position in his own preferred position!? Plays better on the left side, at least defensively that is.

So how do we go around this problem then? Perhaps sign a RB instead and make Johnno our permanent LB!

Play Kelly at RB if Johnson isn't cutting it.

I believe that we were ever being linked with Left Back like Royston Drenthe ( Real Madrid ) and Davide Santon ( Inter Milan ). What happened to that rumours? They would be worth a try if we can get them on the cheap. I believe Drenthe is rotting in the Real Madrid squad now. He is only 24 and have a lot of time ahead of him. The same goes to Davide Santon. I think he have lost his place to Christian Chivu or Yuto Nagatomo. So I believe with the temptation of first team football and their potential , Liverpool should consider bidding for them...

Is Drenthe still at Madrid?? I thought he would have moved in my now, but haven't been following him at all. Remember a few months back someone made a fake Twitter account claiming to be him and that he was moving to Liverpool, and tons of people, including media, swallowed it right up.
