Skysports.com understands that Liverpool, Fulham and Swansea have all joined the race to land prospective Blackburn signing Mariano Pavone.

The 29-year-old Argentine international has already agreed a three-year deal at Ewood Park, but the Lancashire outfit have been unable to finalise the deal.

Now Pavone, who is a free agent after buying out the remaining year of his contract at Real Betis, is growing increasingly frustrated.

Whilst Rovers remain in pole position to sign him, Pavone is now ready to consider other offers and a number of clubs are showing an interest in the forward.

Skysports.com understands Liverpool, Fulham and Swansea are all interested in now striking a deal to land Pavone.

Don't know much about this lad but if he is free then why not?

Doubt FSG would allow to go for him if he's 29

1) he's foreign
2) he's nearly 30
3) fulham and swansea think they've got a chance of signing him

clearly not an ounce of truth in this "rumour". might as well close the thread.

John W Henry has said they won't sign anyone over a 'certain age', so a lot of people we have been linked can be ruled out immediately (I'm paraphrasing). I think we can safely say there is no truth in this rumour, we won't be signing a 29 year old.

we still signed doni at 31, i think if the player is still good enough and not on major money and can do a job then sign up. i dont thin we will ever see us paying big for a player approaching 30 again

At 29 years of age and a free transfer , he is worth a try for next season. Maybe can sign him for a 2 year contract and see what happens. Anyway he is not coming in as a first choice striker. We can actually solve 2 problems at 1 time. If we bring him in , we know that there is an experience back up on the bench if anyone is injured. The best thing about his signing is that we can bring in another young back up striker like Nolan Roux or Teteh Bangura knowing that we have an experience back up in the squad. So there will be no pressure on the young back up striker if the first choice striker gets injured. That would also save us the transfer fee of an experienced striker whom I think can cost quite a sum but at the same time getting a young and upcoming striker.
