If we were to get Mata for instance, i'd consider him a marquee signing.
All's gone very quiet with Gary Cahill. I would have expected him to have gone to City by now. If we were to get him, would anyone else consider him a marquee signing? no. a marquee signing for me is someone that gets me excited so someone like mata or sanchez. cahill doesnt do it for me. not saying he wouldnt make us stronger but not a marquee signing for me I'd tend to agree with that myself, but if we signed Cahill, it'd be a massive coup for us, and in my opinion would still represent a statement of intent.

Let's be realistic. Kenny needs to sell before he can buy which drastically reduces the chances of us getting the type of player that some people are talking about. Furthermore, he nearly always buys british, which further reduces the chances.
All this talk of a marquis signing is rather sade....... In the split second between reading this and glancing towards the author's username, i made a bet with myself as to who it was, and surprisingly i won! :P

Would have to agree with that as well, a lot of top clubs are reported to be after Cahill, bagging him would show we are right up there.

I think a real good marquee signing would be one of those South American boy wonders, e.g Ganso, Lamela, Lucas

I was disappointed by ganso in the copa but I guess everyone was below par. Havn't seen much of him bar that.
