The stanley park site has room to build big! i think its only money that will stop us doing say 70 thousand seater, they did say once that the area around new ground can then become a football zone with all the things you suggested on it so the tourists etc can head there to spend spend spend, it would have been a show piece if everton could have built there own ground alongside too so itl all be about football then, sadly money is short. If what you say there LiverbirdLain, is correct then Stanley Park is the location to choose, as the access/traffic issues can be sorted out with the Council.

If there's enough room to build the size stadium that's big/good enough for Lfc and that will depend on how much money the owners have so no one's privy to that,i think the park site must be big enough for them to even consider it,even if it means extending again at a later date i would imagine the council, will know if the may be say European funds in the form of grants for help with regeneration of the whole area including infrastructure,i think the grants are why council want us to get on with it ,it will be massive and will be done in stages, with the necessities in place first of course. it would make a great footie zone for fans from all over the world to come to,and unique in this country. As far as i know the permission for the ground is in place, don't know about the roads etc.

They should get on with it and build a 70 - 80,000 seater. The cost can be offset by naming rights and would be a great investment for the owners in any case. As you say it can be built in stages as a football campus. Is the ground allocated big enough to incorporate the mellowed facility? If so what a resource that would be for Liverpool City, not to mention LFC!

Im not sure about the melwood facility!this ground was based on the cowboys plans we could try to find that blue print and see, obviously our owners planswill differ somewhat to that plan but could take up the same amount of space ish! goodison will be the fly in the ointment i feel what a blot on the landscape itl be.so still lots of talking and planning to do.

If we try for a totally different site itl take years of planning swaying councils and public enquiries!nightmare!. Warrington council are begging someone to go in Omega which is the ex RAF ex WW11 USAF site. If you can land a flying fortress in it you could fit an 80k seater.

If so what a resource that would be for Liverpool City, not to mention LFC! 70,000 seater in Anfield is a pipe dream, it's simply never going to happen, it's simply too big for the area. Another thing people dont seem to realise is the Council dont really want Liverpool to build there own stadium, they have been pushing a joint one for years, they may give planning permission for a new 60,000 stadium but it's not what they want at all. If you can remember they called both Liverpool and Everton both together for head to head meetings to try and thrash out a compromise, Rick Parry said he wanted to push through our own stadium while Everton said they were open to the idea of a joint one.
