His preffered role is that of centre half.

The results don't back that up

Flanagan was in the team for most of our big wins - 5-0 against Birmingham City, 5-2 against Fulham and 3-0 against Man City

He was also awarded Young player of the 2010-2011 season for his consistent contribution at right-back - ahead of the likes of Kelly and Robinson

Shame he doesn't play in another position as I don't see that much value in having four quality right backs

Johnson, Kelly, Flanagan and who else? I'd see Kelly moving to centre back on a more long term basis.

There are 10 other players on the pitch and surprisingly in football a right back doesn't always win games by himself...so your results argument is completely pointless. As for Flanno picking up the award, it was for his reserve outings as well which were brilliant and through that played more games, twice as many as Kelly who was injured.

Who knows what the future will be in five years regarding players, Purslow said not so long ago it wont be a problem being out of the Champions league for two maybe three seasons at the outset but after that it will become a massive problem if we dont get in. we are already out two seasons already and I personaly dont think we will be in in another 4 or 5 minumum if any. Thats why I think we will be relying on home grown stars more than any because the big players wont come without Champions league or we simply will become a Club who can longer sustain the top wages we are still paying for the moment anyway, the whole landscape could change within 5 years is the point I am making.
