guys. have downing already passed his medical, as its been quiet and he was supposed to sign the deal today does any1 has any news on this

Downing will sign his contract imminently according to "Sky Sources". By the way "Sky Sources" is my son after he asked Stewart Downing at Melwood when he is signing & was asked by a Sky cameraman what he said!

It was reported in Sky Sports News that Downing is having his second medical at Liverpool. Why is he having a second medical whereas most other players have only 1? Even Andy Carroll who came to Liverpool injured needs only 1 medical to confirm. Is there going to be any twist in the Downing transfer? Hopefully he never fail his first medical and became like Sylvain Marveaux's situation.

he had a very very bad ankle injury only 2 years ago kept him out for a long time .

But if he can play the nearly the whole of last season , I do not think that is not completely recovered now. Hopefully we are wrong and the reason is he is waiting for King Kenny in person to confirm the signing. That's what I thought.

I doubt there's any substance in it, I'm sure the deal will go through. Especially considering Kenny has apparently flown back to seal t' deal.

the club are forking out 20 million so i think they are right to make sure he is fit .

Thanks Faz and Danny ,
I think what both of you said make sense to me. Since we are forking out 20m pounds for a player , we must make sure that he is totally fit and ready to hit the ground running. Let's not make another mistake like in the case of Aquilani. I agree Aquilani is quality but to pay that kind of money and having him fit for only a quarter of a season is a mistake to me but he did prove that he is quality when he is fit.


I think that Stewart Downing is a player being earmarked by King Kenny himself to be purchased for the upcoming season. So that explains why he is cutting short his Far East tour just to finalise the deal when actually it can be done by Damien Comolli. All credit to the King himself for making a player feel so wanted. Let's hope that this new found enthusiasm will prove to be a big help in our form through out the season...
