I must admit I thought we originally overpaid for him but he did prove valuable last season. Although I still have questions about his defensive abilities, his efectiveness when he was forced to play down the left hand side was a real pleasant surprise. I am glad they have extended his contract and think they have done well to try and keep the core of the squad at liverpool. I think he's better attacking than he is at actually defending. Was hoping Kenny would give him a chance at right midfielder in the 2nd half of last season, with Kelly emerging and doing really well at RB. In saying that, he did do really well at LB, but i can't see him starting the season there again.

Do you think that KK might decide to use Johnson in a more attacking role to provide for Carroll and thats why we might not get a winger and have Martin Kelly as RB.

Is this our new left back then for next season?? I very much doubt it, man. As i said in another thread, i'm sure he was happy to help out at LB last season, but i don't know how happy he'd be to be kept there permanently. Don't think it'd be idea even in the management's eyes either.

Fully agree there BarLennon, very good moving forward but not so dependable defending under pressure, but I think he can improve that aspect under good coaching so all in all a good days work I think.

CB is believed to be his best position, and in the long run maybe that'll be proven, but i have to say, i really like him at full back too. If/when he switches to CB he won't get the opportunities to race forward as he does at full back.
