So why would we be interested the Roma player Doni ? I just don't get it.

He's not a very good keeper Mike.

He must be better than our other reserve keepers though if he's 2nd choice to Reina. They might as well all fvck off down the job centre; there is one GK subs place available and he will very rarely get a game. If our reserves are worse than Jones then they are much worse than Doni, who 'might' get 2 or 3 games a season - so why hang around?

Imagine being backup keeper to Gulacsi...who never gets a game. Honestly, any money spent on backup GKs is a complete mis-mangement of funds. We've got reserve keepers - if they aren't good enough to sit on the bench and never play then why are they at the club getting paid??

Whats happens if Reina tears a hamstring taking a goal kick for example. Do we throw a young lad inbetween the sticks with no 1st team experience for 2 months? No we dont. You have experienced back up keepers for a reason.

If the young keeper is good enough then why not? They have to make the break through some time don't they?

Goalkeeper isn't a position that you throw a rookie into at the deep end. It's the most high-pressure position in the team. If you're thrown up front as a rookie striker and you miss an easy chance, your team just doesn't score. Make a mistake as a keeper, and your team loses a goal - higher stakes. Gulacsi is already gone out on loan, so assuming Jones leaves, we will need a new keeper as back up, and word is that they want one with experience, which i think is the right way to go. Wouldn't be overly happy with them paying high wages for one though, but can't see that happening, to be fair. They know what they're doing.
