Can some kind soul please enlighten me.

I thought we signed Brad a year or so to provide cover and it seems he is still on our books.

So why would we be interested the Roma player Doni ? I just don't get it.

because he is not good enough and will be moving on

i dont get why people are saying he is so bad, he has played about 3 games for us in league cup or europa.

Whoever we get is going sit on the bench all season anyway so it doesn't really matter

Totally agree ! we have better things to be doing i.e. getting a left back n winger/s.. IF Jones isn't good enough , why sign him ? n IF that's the case we shudda gone all out for Dudek...weird.

Hodgson signed him, in fairness. Either way, sometimes players are signed and they turn out not be as good as first thought, or they don't work out for whatever reason.

Yes, any sub keeper is likely to be parked on the bench for the whole season, but Pepe isn't a robot, he could get injured. And if he does, we need someone who can step in and do a job, otherwise we'd be fairly f*cked.

When he gets injured, we will get an emergency signing like city did last season. I say screw doni, he wants big wages and thats one thing we are trying to minimise in this club.

I think before getting rid of Brad Jones we need to sign a cover for Pepe Reina first. At this point of time , I would take Jerzy Dudek ahead of Doni. Apart from being a free transfer , he knows the local football scene in England quite well and he needs no time to adapt. He knows what it's like to be behind in pecking orders for 2 of the world best goalkeepers in Casillas and Reina. SO he would not come out in public to complain either.

Well, as I think Milton said, they also serve who only stand and wait. What we are talking about here is a permanent understudy, who will spend most of his time on the bench but could do a reasonable job if called upon. Such a player might just get the odd first team outing. If Brad Jones is considered superfluous then he is another player who needs to be moved on.

Dudek is going to leeds because he is sick of sitting on the bench. He has stated a few times that he wants to play hence why he is moving on

i have also watched him in reserve games he is horrific if i remeber correctly he was on his line and somehow got chipped by an over-head kick
