I was brought up near Brighton in the 80's and my dad used to take me to see Brighton play every weekend in the old First Division.

He wasn't a massive fan of Footy, but in those days, going to the Match was affordable and exciting (if you avoid getting your head kicked in).

I saw Liverpool play a few times against Brighton and I just fell in love with them, there and then. Have followed them eversince.

I was about 6 years old, growing up in Exeter, and my cousin gave me a hand-me-down LFC shirt with the Hitachi sponsor. That summer Liverpool played Exeter at the "real st james' park" and won 8-1 or something - it was my first game so my choices were to support the team that just got hammered or Liverpool....it was never a close call!

When I was about 6 my brother and dad used to watch footie on BBC together. I tried for about a year to watch it but found it quite boring.

When I was about 7 I tried again to watch it and I asked my brother who was playing, why he followed them. I asked the same question of my dad.

Within about 6 months I was HOOKED. My brother followed LFC so I followed them and started to watch the games. When I was about 16 my dad brought me to see LFC play Southampton and we won 3-0 if I remember correctly. I was pitch side at Anfield and Mc Manaman was on our wing the 2nd half. I remember he SPRINTED past us and was gone about 15 yards past us. Next all I could here were these little "thud, thud, thud thud". I realised that it was the MUCK flying off his boots, high into the air and he was so fast he was way down the pitch when the muck eventually dropped back to the ground. I was like WWWWWOOOOOWWWWW, he is so foooooking FAST. LOVE IT

Born a red.. simples. Na my dads actually a blue as is my grandad. Cousins are all reds so i was sort off 50/50 at a very young age. My dad uset to do foreigners on the wagons for a compnay called liver.. they do soil..flags etc. Anyway he was workin there one saturday and he had to take me because my mum was in work, i was pissin him off so he asked one of the drivers he knew could i go in the wagon and do his drops with him.

So i did, now all this fella talked about was how Liverpool were magic and everton were tragic, he told me my dad clearly didnt know anyhting about football as he was a blue haha. i was about 4 and through out the whole day he told me the ins and outs of Liverpool and why were so great. Following weekend my grandparents were loking after me and i went out with them, i told my grandad i wanted a Liverpool shirt and it broke his heart but he bought it for me... the rest is history.

Class Dingo. Love it.

Its actually amazing when you reflect on it just how special the memory can be. You with your dad and Grandad. Imgaine as well back then that your dad sent you out with a friend of his in the wagon for the day.

Couldn't really do that these days. how times have changed.

Ye its a shame... these days it would be "na i can't because the wagon isn't insured for passengers" which is now true in alot of haulage etc

Funny how certain memorys stick, ive told that story about 100 times lol.

That fella that one day had a lifetime effect on my life, crazyiness.
