Absolutely. No point having these young (highly paid professional) players if Benitez is not even trusting them as back up.

Martin Kelly is another one. All 6'3" of him!

kelly looks to be the best of the lot as well ...... he is better than carragher was at his age - about time he was given a chance to show that it is not just potential!!

I don't think we needed another centre back but I think Rafa got him because that was all that was available for the money he had. Besides, with the injury record of Turtle and Agger we are going to need back up.

In fairness, I think the Tearhisarseoff had a good game. He just needs to adapt to the pace and realise he won't have as much time on the ball as he did in Greece. Always thought he was a good centre back.

to be fair to rafa hes given insua a chance over the last couple of seasons, featured quite heavily towards back end of last and beginning of this season and hes only a young lad. it might just be that rafa doesnt think that ayala, san jose or kelly are good enough to step up yet. the premiership is a totally different level to reserve football. the youngsters will probably get a chance in the carling cup. then when we get knocked out early most people will be on here critising his team selection.

Maybe because in the eyes of the manager, they are not ready?? (Rafa sees them, works with them, ayala looked afraid, in two minds when he played against stoke)

Maybe thats why Rafa has shaken up, and got Ablett out?? i dont think the coach is so foolish, to buy players and not use them, they must be ready!

Because judging from some people on this site, if Rafa plays a yougster and if that backfires, o my goodness, the whole crap will start "Why did he play a youngster in a game like this?" "What a bad selection, the boy is not ready"

So its a catch 22 situation i think

one player is not enough to show he is giving youngsters a chance! as for the bollox about him not believing they are ready, of course they aren't ready! they need to play in the first team to get ready! they need a run of games in Liverpool's first team not some lower league club to be ready to face the prem ...... insua only got games coz rafa was desperate with fabs and dossena injured at the same time and the transfer window shut ........ insua is making it in spite of rafa imo ...... and i hate to say it because i want rafa to stay but it is his weak link - he doesn't trust youth players

i dont trust them either, becasue they are not ready!

Being able to run around and pass a ball is not the only issue, they need to built up in confidence, physique.

From what i see, non of them are ready, they could start getting ready for the LEEDS game.

pacheco is ready to for the subs bench, ayala has shown he is ready for a run in the team, spearing stepped up and showed he is ready for a run in the team too ..... how the hell do you expect these kids to build up confidence if they are sat watching mediocre players brought in when there is the slightest chance they might get a run of games???

if you don't believe the kids are ready then you haven't spent enough time in footie - the physique thing is utter bs to be honest - i can remember when they were telling mcmanaman he needed to bulk up and that owen was too short etc ...... physique is irrelevant if a player is good enough

Insua's statrted every game this season ahead of dossena who's been on the bench so he obviously trusts him more than dossena. Damien plessis got a run in the team a couple of years ago when he was in form for the reserves and nabir el zhar played a few games toward the back end of last season. These days the stakes are so high you've always got to pick your strongest team when possible. When was the last time a youngster broke into the chelski or manure team, not just rafa who doesn't play them, its just the way the game is going. I'm sure rafa and his backroom staff who spend every day training with these lads have a better idea of when there ready than yuyou do, you've seen pachecio play a few friendy games, yeah his touch looks good but there's obviously over aspect of his game he needs to improve before he's ready for first team.
