It looks like he is the next one in. Don't know much about Serie A and this guy but I hope he is good. And not as overrated and over priced as young British talent.
Udinese defender Cristian Zapata has claimed that he is on the brink of completing a deal to join Liverpool
Zapata is rated as one of Serie A's best defenders and helped the Zebrette finish fourth in Italy's top-flight division, qualifying them for a spot in the play-offs of next season's Champions League.
The Colombia international is currently in South America preparing for the Copa America, but has revealed that he is in talks about leaving his current club for a switch to Anfield.
"I do not know what to say, I can say that I am very close to Liverpool," he told La FM. "At the end of the Copa America, we will see what happens with my future."
"I have gained experience, but the time has come for me to make the jump to a big team."
Zapata, who has been with Udinese for six years since his arrival from Deportivo Cali back in 2005, currently has two years left on his contract at the Stadio Friuli.
The versatile 24-year-old, who can play at centre back or full back, has claimed that Bayern Munich have also made a move for his signature, but a move to Merseyside now appears imminent.

From the little i've seen of him, big, strong, quick and great positional sense.
He's also a very big name around Europe would be very surprised if we managed to get him signed without Inter/Arsenal or someone trying to hijack the deal as he is faaaaar superior to Scott Dann IMO

I remember a few years ago basically when he was 20-22, everyone was raving about him basically how everyones doing so about Sakho at PSG. Can't remember much about him apart from him being fast and strong, he's meant to have good defending capabilities from what I recall but from most past experiences from south american defenders they usualy aren't good defenders but have strenght and pace, so hope I'm worng on this one.
Would definately take him over all defenders linked including Dan, and Cahill.

Btw maybe this is a taste of things to come as he was one of the players we weren't actualy linked to, know one knew of his negotiations with lfc and that fills me with hope over what KK said today about signing people who'll excite the fans, not players like Dan, Downing, etc, the players who are a step above them, i.e how Joe cole filled us with hope last season another 2-3 players of that hype who actualy work out lol

Arsenal wanted to sign him a couple of years ago. He will be an asset although I don't think he was our first choice for some reason
