KOPTALK understands that Liverpool Football Club officials have been in Spain to meet their Real Madrid counterparts and a delegation from UEFA.
A meeting was held at the Bernabéu in relation to Real Madrid's attempts to obtain approval from UEFA to field their new signings Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Lassana Diarrà in the next stage of the Champions League.
The Spanish giants are trying to bend a ruling in Article 17.18 which prevents the registration of more than one player who has previously played in the UEFA Cup with one team to feature in the Champions League with another club.
UEFA president Michel Platini has told Real president Ramón Calderón that the rules cannot be changed because of Real's blunder and the club are now appealing. If they lose their appeal they have told UEFA that they will launch a "war" with the organisation and take the matter to the courts.
Liverpool were present at the meeting but are so far refusing to comment publicly on their feelings. According to sources here, the Reds were in attendance to "ensure transparency".
