I don't really buy the theory that Benitez has improved Gerrard. How has he done that exactly?

Gerrard has scored more goals under Rafa than under anyone else even when he plays out wide.
The training and eating of the players have improved under Rafa so they will be in top physical condition.

He was maturing anyway. I don't think the Gerrard would necessarily claimed that Benitez has improved him as a player

I do agree with your point that the condition of our players is generally better under Benitez though

I am sure he would have helped with analysing the opposition and their weaknesses like our goalkeeper coach shows Torres and Gerrard the weakness of the opposition defence and goalkeeper.

Remember it wasn't long ago when we known as the spice boys and most the players would have their cellphones on them all the time.
Rafa has changed the bad habits and assesses each player accordingly to help them improve their physical condition and some players need extra weighth training and others need to put on some extra weight like Crouch had to.

I think Stevie G has improved as a player over the past couple of years, how much of that is due to Rafa who knows?

What I do think is that he now
- plays for the team more
- is more positionally aware
- he doesn't roam all over the pitch as much leaving us less vulnerable to counter attack
- gives the ball away less and
- is less prone to play long balls all of the time.

Part of that is certainly thanks to Rafa, how much, who knows.
