Santi Cazorla could be one of the influx of transfers at Liverpool, after Pepe Reina apparently recommended him to Kenny Dalglish.

The Reds are focusing most of their efforts on acquiring British stars this summer, but are willing to look overseas if players of the right quality become available.

Villarreal midfielder Cazorla certainly fits into that category. The 26-year-old has won more than 30 caps for Spain and could be the answer to Liverpool's left wing problem.

According to the People, Liverpool's Spanish goalkeeper Reina has told Dalglish his international team-mate has what it takes to succeed in the Premier League.

The Reds are now said to be planning an £18 million bid for Cazorla. The player has a £28 million release clause in his contract, but Villarreal may be prepared to sell for a lower price if he indicates he wants to leave.

Liverpool were expected to move for Aston Villa's Stewart Downing as part of their summer spending spree, but a deal for Cazorla could mean they have no need for the England winger.

We should sign this guy he looks quality, can pick out a pass, beat a player and score.

Now how many Midfielders do we need in a squad? Currently we have Kuyt, Gerrard, Merieles, Spearing, Jordan, Jonjo, Lucas, Maxi, Poulsen, Joe Cole and soon to be Adam. These are those i can recall. If you look among them, none is a natural winger. And to add Downing is not good enough. He is too slow. I would rather Kuyt to play on the right than him.

kuyt is a forward, i think kenny is acknowledging that and rightly so.

spearing isnt going to feature as first choice next year.

maxi seems to be working out as a winger.

i think shelvey has some developing to do so will remain a squad player.

poulsen and coled are gone.

that just leaves henderson, gerrard lucas and merieles to fill three of four positions.

i know maxi scored a couple hatricks and was good form for the last mouth of the season but i would rather we sold him. was crap most of the season and goes missing in most games. would be very very disappointed if he was our 1st choice LM next season. he wouldnt make it into any of our rivals team and dont think his good enough for us. we are crying out for some pace. would be very surprised if kenny doesnt bring in some pace
