What do You mean is the problem with Carroll as CF in 4-3-3?
I'm not questioning the player, merely that I'm not sure even if we get a Mata-type on the left/right that 4-3-3 will suit us. Kenny is definitely aiming at playing Suarez behind the main striker (Carroll) and in 4-3-3 that would imply he'd be in a proper midfield role or primarily as a wide player who cuts in. I do think that 4-3-3 can work for us with either Suarez or Carroll (or even Kuyt) as the front man, but I can't see Suarez and Carroll both being used optimally in the system.
We're more likely to drift between 4-4-1-1 and 4-2-3-1 with Suarez in the hole/free role behind Carroll than play 4-3-3 as a primary formation (basically as we have been doing, with Gerrard/Henderson in place of Meireles, because the Portuguese international has looked out of sorts on the right). If we get no wingers then 3-5-2 or 4-4-2 diamond come back into focus, but that would probably leave us short of the width necessary to exploit Carroll's aerial support.
