56 million on Carroll and Henderson is worrying but at least we have a manager that can get the best out of young players .... I think they have sales of players lined up to meet any money they're spending ... that seems to be the way they work ...

i bet you won't say that if carroll bags 20 goals next season, or even better if we end up winning the title 1-2 years from now.

I'm trying to work out what people are worried about. I understand the point that we're paying a lot of money mainly on potential, and people not used to seeing Liverpool pay heavily for anything are going to become easily agitated. There are certainly cheaper players out there, but they have never played in the Premiership. They represent a greater risk, I assure you, even though many foreign players do perform well in England (eg Torres, Suarez). The problem is that they have no resale value if they flop, while someone in the EPL will always want Henderson even if he fails at LFC. Would you rather risk 12m on a hyped player from abroad who you'll struggle to sell should he fail (representing a 6-8m loss as well as no player for the season you bought him), or would you rather risk 13m+N'Gog on Henderson who you will sell for a minimum of 10-12m even if he doesn't make the grade (and since he's already proven to a degree in the EPL he stands a far higher chance of success)?

In an ideal world we'd have bought him for the same cash but kept N'Gog, but the EPL is a seller's market right now and unless you're prepared to spend you'll make none of your targets. Arsene Wenger is much more worried than you; just remember that, and all will be well.

If you get 10mil for lucas take it .... 13 mil for aquilani take it.... 10 quid for poulsen take it.... 6 mil for spearing take it, 3mil for cole take it and buy adam ... get adam in and we have henderson, gerrard, mierieles, maxi, adam, kuyt, .... we still need wingers.

Thats a bit high for Poulsen dont you think?

I think we're clearing out central midfield, Rafarendum. Poulsen, Aquilani, Cole, possibly Meireles. Spearing could also leave if the price is right. We have absolutely no reason to buy Henderson and still be interested in Adam otherwise, never mind that we're spending money that should be going towards a left back and left winger.

I'm also thinking that we must have something up our sleeve at striker for us to get rid of N'Gog so casually. Yes, he's not the best, and Kuyt is a good 3rd striker (and we have no European competition), but 2 striker systems need a 4th front man in the wings. Unless we're keeping Jovanovic, of course, or are planning on promoting Ngoo/Morgan/whoever.

No player is really worth what teams are paying now. The market has gone completely over the top. You say Carrol isn't worth £35 but was Torres worth the £50m we sold for?

When you talk about Rafa buying players for a lot less, it was still a lot of money at the time. It was 5 - 6 years ago now. Our record signing was still only £14m and teams like Sunderland spend close to that now.

13 million and ngog is a very good deal for henderson. ngog is of no use to us.
