looks like the henderson signing has been agreed with ngog moving in opposite way as part of the deal but what i want to know is who is going to play in our midfield next season now that we have so many midfielders - most of them central midfielders..... bearing in mind its likely we will secure a winger or two also and adam is still being heavily linked. there will be a couple of first team fringe players coming through from the reserves also no doubt?

Well, Gerrard, Raul, and Lucas for sure get games. I wonder if Kenny installs a rotational system to protect Raul from getting blasted so much and keep Stevie healthy? If that is the case we would need the numbers and everyone gets rest along the way. Henderson played some right side as well if needed. But I think Raul got hurt last year being worn down as we lacked depth badly with Stevie out. So much like how SAF does it, little over 30 games a person for a starter, everyone else below?

Adam would be squad and being left footed would be nice.

could signal a loan deal for jonjo shelvey? especially if we look to bring in charlie adam too.

as TGN said henderson can also play out wide (from his time in the sunderland reserves - i think) and heard reports he's not short of pace either.

I would love to see Jonjo loaned out. Really think Kenny kept him on the squad due to our depth issues. His development should be priority.

likewise, providing we have got quality cover. would love us to bring in charlie adam cos i still think shelvey has a lot of improving to do. he had quite a few below par performances last season but in a few moments he showed he could also have the potential (like the suarez assist vs fulham away) and showed he can be versatile when needed.

i think a loan for a prem or championship side would do him good. playing at reserves level or back in league one would be a step in the wrong direction at this stage in his career.

I think its a good sign because we may have too many midfielders but in reality we are creating 2 layers of midfields that can be rotated it especially if Young, Mata or other wings come in and that can only be good news because when we play the fa and carling cups, our squads won't be heavily depleted. More Quality please.

Henderson has played out on the right many times for the sunderland first team. Nearly as many as he has played in the middle this season. He isn't particularly fast. About average for a cm probably a bit slow if anything for a rm.

I don't think it's a particularly good signing because it doesn't improve our first team in the slightest yet he cost so much.

I think it improves our square quite a bit. He's a bit of a play maker. He is creative, and likes to move the ball forward. Which is good for the team.

Our last 2 games of the season, when we had Spearing and Lucas running the midfield showed that we needed a player like Henderson. because the ball wasn't moving around up front like it should. Or getting to our front men.

Sure Gerrard and Raul can do that, but Henderson is one for the future. And if he learns from SG and RM, then he will progress and hopefully be awesome.

The interest in Henderson and Kenny's preference for 4-4-2 has me thinking Aquilani and Meireles may be sold. The latter has been good for us in the few games we played a system that suited him (4-2-3-1), but Kenny very clearly needed a CM who could play on the right aka Steven Gerrard. Henderson is the same. Meireles had little enough room in the team this season, and he has even less now.
