The problem we have here is we have to establish who we are competing with in regards to our budget and on the pitch. If we want to be where we were 5/6 years ago (i.e. beating teams like Milan/Barca/Madrid/Inter) are players like Charlie Adam the answer? If we are aiming to get in the uefa cup at a push then maybe he is. We need to see players linked with us of the calibre of Alonso/Masch/Gerrard if we have higher aspirations or we need to accept that we will fall further behind the higher spending teams season after season, hoping for financial fair play rules to bail us out.
Agree, with you mate in that we need players with quality but maybe Adam could add to the team in terms of pushing the other midfielders to raise their game and also extra cover for injuries.
He is the sort of player that splits opinions in 'he is class' to 'he is not good enough' but i'd rather be linked with him than cattermole.
