i'll be very disappointed if we sign mccarthy. i don't think its fair on lucas and spearing to be signing that sort of player. how much is he really going to improve the squad? just think there are better players out there unless he's one purely for the future.

same goes for scott dann and lee cattermole. think we need to ship the greek out and get a sami hyypia type player in who will be good in the air in defence and from set plays like sakho. lee cattermole is a good player, he's a work horse but he's far too reckless imo, gets too many cards

Mccarthy is younger and already has much more prem experience than spearing and I think hes got a bit more potential as well. I like spearing and i think he did really well at the end of the year but I dont see him ever becoming more than a squad player for us, i actually think hed benefit if we loaned him next season.

cattermole.....no thanks we don't need him so squash that rumour straight away.

McCarthy could come in for competition, plus only 20 and has been good this season and could play in the fa and league cup to gain experience.

Loan shelvey out to prove himself in the premier league, maybe to norwich with pacheao.

All we need i reckon is a centre back and two wingers.

i honestly don't know why we are looking for a defensive midfielder. lucas just had a great season. he's sitting in front of a back 4 which was chopped and changed so much through injury and he STILL managed to play as well as he did. he's my no. 1 choice there, with spearing as ample squad/replacement. we need, i think, in this order... a lb, a left mid, a cb, a striker.

i would say a right mid too but kuyt was really handy there this season. and i doubt we're going to be able to afford 5 high quality players. so the right wing is not a priority.

if we get the right defenders we won't need another midfielder. we'll have the new left mid, raul, stevie g, lucas, kuyt, shelvey and jay.

lets be realistic here enrique is a proven pl performer where as izaguiree or whatever you call him is playing in a league where in any given season 2 teams turn up can we honestly say he could cope with the likes of a young and nani and crew running and attacking him with pace??yes he might be a cheap back up where at times we could bed him in but to say hes the ready lb were looking for are far off

when former scunthorpe player gary hooper and ex derby player kris commons are the star players of celtic it doesn't really say much for the club or the league. saying that ive never seen izaguirre play
