we did not play well on Sunday but . Howard webbs performance gave us no chance . the man is man is either corrupt or inept . an should really be struck off the list of refs . as soon as i saw he was ref for the game i told my mates we would not be allowed by this to get any thing from today's game . but at least he is being true to his roots as a south Yorkshire copper

Yes, I'm surprised no one really hammered him for his performance yesterday.

His calls here horrendous and I literally nearly broke my table with my fist after he gave the pen. It was 50-50 and everyone in Anfield could see that except him.

Best referee my foot.

Did you see the game? does he fudge like support LFC. the amoutn of atrocious decsision made by him yesterday.
bar the free kick given for the foul on Carroll just outside the 25 yard line, every other free kick given to us were in the middle of the park, where we couldn't really cause any damage. Blatant corner given as a gaol kick to Spurs, the penalty was as blatant a non penalty you could see, I was in the main stand and I could see it, he was about ten yards looking striaght at it and gave a straight pen.

I didn't mention him in the match thread. we were poor yesterday but Webb made it impossible for us to even get into the game anyway.

don't think he is corrupt to be honest i think he is in love with himself and in the big matches he loses his judgement , in fact he is a bad referee, i don't even think he favours united but ferguson obviously thinks he can pursuade him. Who knows what pressures these refs are under from fifa or other officials in the big matches

The standard level of Ref-ing in this league is [oops] poor at best. The FA should do what the German league do, if a Ref gives bad decisions throught, they have to go infront of the German FA to eplain their reasons for giving such decisions. Because of this the standard of Ref's have improved greatly over the last few seasons.
Players and managers are brought in front of the FA in this country to explain their decisions so shoudl the Ref's.

You tell that to the 42,000 LFC fans chanting "You manc [oops]" and "Fergies rent boy", they might disagree with you wink

but in all fairness, Kenny's first game back as temp manager Webb gives a dubious free kick and sends of gerrard.
Kenny first game as full time manager Dubious penalty given and countless unfair calls from the same ref.

Spooky.

He's a Manc, through and through. He makes a lot of suspect calls against us regardless of our opposition, particularly in the "soft penalty" category. I couldn't see much difference in the fouls he gave on Crouch vs those he didn't give on Suarez, never mind the blatant dive that lead to the Suarez yellow. I suppose he'll say he did his bit for us by not giving Maxi a card for diving in the box.

He is also the main craftsman of the "until we win" extra-time board that Fergie has - 08/09 the scum had a significant amount of added at the end of matches they were drawing/losing, and let's not forget that penalty he gave them against Spurs that got them out of jail. No doubt in my mind about his allegiance.

I frankly am fed-up with the FA's stance that one cannot question a decision a referee has made. They've blurred the line between questioning and criticizing thanks to their ineptitude, and they refuse to change by defending the officials to the death even when their decisions were clearly wrong (Rooney elbow for one, and not just because it was Rooney). The Manc's say the FA hate Fergie, but that's because he crosses that line with his snide remarks that bring the game into disrepute; one should be allowed to say, "Hopefully the referee will realize that he got that one wrong, and will learn from it". I know it's difficult to be a top official, but one would hope that the guys the spotlight always falls on would at least attempt to be fair during the game. I don't care if Webb supports United; but I most certainly care if he allows that to influence his judgement while doing his job.

I agree with all you said thundyr but suarez was lucky to stay on the pitch when he gave Dawson a boot whilst he was down, but Webb just hates Liverpool, even Kenny admits it in his own suttle way in his post match interview.

I think Webb realized he screwed up with the Dawson dive, which is why he gave yellow; the incident wouldn't have happened if he hadn't fallen for/chosen to reward the dive, so the error was partly his own. Suarez toe-poked rather than kicked with intent, and it didn't hurt given how Dawson leaped to his feet in reaction, so there was nothing in it. Had he rolled around trying to milk it as others often do... If Webb had given a red inside a few minutes of the start of the game for a love tap after he'd made an obviously wrong call, his reputation would have been marred, and the fans would have given him hell all game. Yellow was the right card, and he knew it.
