Carroll has shown nothing in a red shirt, this is true. However, he showed a great deal for the barcodes in the Premiership - if he hadn't we would not have signed him. I agree that center halves hoofing it up is not what we want, and I'm fairly sure one would find that was not the kind of football Newcastle were playing that had him racing up the scoring charts. One does get a feeling about a player, and I had the feeling Carroll was a footballer we could use long before we signed him, but it came with the feeling that maybe he wouldn't suit us. Now we have him, and hopefully will sign players who will bring out the best in him.

Until proven wrong, in the King I trust.

I see a better partnership between Suarez and Kuyt tbh, Its early days to judge but if I was to judge him so far I would give him a 2 or 3 out of 10 and thats mainly because he has his first goals already. He is a striker that definately requires service, Suarez can do it on his own and I think thats one of he main things why he has been successful so far because we have no other players that lifts us that much. We definately need wingers to suit carroll.

the reason being is that they both speak dutch so can communicate better than carroll and suarez, once suarez learns english proper you will see their understanding get better and they will forge a good partnership.

I don't think so, even tho language have has a little bearing but only a little so it doesn't really affect the partnership. I am sure he knows the basic football language right now to communicate and thats all it matters.

Completely agree Snakeye. Suarez and Kuyt just seem to know what the other is going to do. They're partnership has been fantastic. Putting Carroll in there instead of Kuyt was a mistake.

Sorry guys but fact is that they have found it easier to gel and learn each others styles/runs and so forth with thanks to being able to communicate and with all the time on thr training field as well. Carroll has had his fair share of injuries since joining us and still not match fit and hasn't had a run of games long enough to have any understanding with Suarez.

I don't understand why people are talking about Suarez and Kuyt works Carrol does not.... There are 38 games in a season and a bucket load of different cup games... How you approach Chelsea is completely different to how you approach Blackpool we need 4 strikers with different skill sets to break down different defenses.

With teams we are expected to beat i think Suarez/Kuyt in a 4-4-2 with 2 great wingers would be ideal however with time i do believe Carrol and Suarez will learn to work together (Drogba showed very little now if Anelka yings he will forever yang because they are world class and they learn about each other). And more to the point Carrol is 22!!! and an England international, take price tag out've it its fantqastic that a player of this calabre is at our club and one bad game doesnt change anything. After shaking off his injuries and having a proper pre season with his new team (and after he learns how Alexis Sanchez crosses wink he will be flying.

For more competitve teams which we will need to battle and win the game in midfield then i think a CHelsea type 4-3-3 is needed like Kenny is trying in certain games and i think the front 3 we have at the moment is ideal with Kuyt out right and Suarez destroying full backs from the left with Carroll cleaning up in the middle this formation will strike fear. Suarez making a fool outve you on the wing before Carrol out muscles you in the box then your switched to lb where long after you've passed out from exhaustion Kuyt is still running up and down the line on the 93rd minute.... Yes i think so. And stop talking about us being title contenders after a victory and having a poor team after a defeat, the amount of jumping ship being done is strating to give me a dodgy stomach

Whilst being able to chat in a common language is a great asset, that is not the only reason they have gelled, you're being far to naieve. Some players click very quickly because they just do. Suarez and Kuyt are an example of this. As were Torres and Gerrard. They are a good partnership and that is not just down to a common language as some strike pairings don't develop despite being from the same country!

Agreed however, that with training Carroll might hit it off with suarez, Kuyt has just done it instantly.

I wouldn't be surprised if Kenny has a team that when it attacks it's almost a 4-2-4 and reverting back to 4-3-3 in defnece. Knowing what kenny was like the last time he was manager expect a very attacking team, that won't rest on a 1-2 nil lead.
