That job interview was going so well until I realized I was fukked up on acid in the middle of a cornfield naked and talking to a scarecrow.

Early days yet, lads. If we want Carroll as a base from which to launch attacks, well our first ball to him needs to improve in quality by about 300%. He's not going to win many headers if we hoof it down his throat, forcing him to stand still while defenders can have a run up. We need crosses at him, and I don't know if you've been watching, but the quality of our average cross is hopeless, and without Meireles/Gerrard our delivery from corners is godawful. He's also been injured twice since we signed him (when he was injured), so it's hardly surprising he's not up to speed yet either. And now that he's fit that dolt Pearce will take away his rest time, and probably return him injured because that's what the England management do with Liverpool players.
For all these reasons it was a mistake to play him yesterday, pure and simple.

Dunno thundyr I think he's had a bit too much rest this season.

Perhaps, but I doubt he was sitting on his bum while he couldn't run. He'd have had daily physio and would still have been expected to work in the gym on the areas of his body that were not injured. I reckon he could do without any of that for a bit, and tournament football is very much more intense than a game per week.

i think the whole team was bad cant just blame carroll - we lack width and pace. everyone has been getting carried away - we still wont win the league with that midfield!

Not blaming Carroll; he simply sticks out like a sore thumb right now, and we'd have been better off leaving him alone. He deserves to play if he's fit, but he doesn't fit with what the team is capable of producing right now, much like that striker we had who went to Chelsea. We bought him for 5 years, as Kenny keeps reminding us, so it wasn't necessary to play him in this one game.

I did not see quality in either teams centre pairing, in fairness Modric is a very good player. I spearing has reached his limit and unlikely to improve significantly. Because Lucas was a little off today it exposed Jay alot more. I thought Shelvey added energy and was more aggressive in his approach play, starting to see something special in this lad. All in all we were very flat and failed to gain any momemtum, pointless punts to Carroll benefit nobody and he did take a battering. We learnt nothing new yesterday, Pace and width severly lacking from the team/bench and will be addressed in the summer. Nobody mentioned how much we missed Raul today? his movement has been excellent and probably what was needed rather than the full on approach(Carroll).

Meireles injured during 4 EPL games, all of which we were level or better at the time he hobbled off. We ended up: lost 2, drew 1, won 1, but never outscored our opposition after he departed. Meireles has missed 1 game under Kenny, which we lost (Spurs). The only game Kenny lost in the EPL when Meireles played the whole game was at Blackpool - in his first league game in charge.

Give carrol a chance guys hes been in and out itl be harsh to slate him just yet! Fair enough, give him a chance. But Still have an opinion on what he's shown so far. And to me, Liverpool have played better football and have been a better side without him in it. Suarez needs footballers round him, not a 6:5 donkey round him waving to the centre halfs to lump the ball in the air for him Im not convinced one bit. You have a sense of feeling about certain players, and I seriously don't think carroll is cut out to be what people expect from him
