I really thought we were poor in parts today to be honest and a shadow of what we were against Fulham, mind though, Spur's played really well today and take nothing away from them!
Fulham were terrible against us, which allowed Suarez to shine and do what he wanted, at will.
It wasn't as easy for him this afternoon, he couldn't turn defenders inside out (Like against Fulham) because of the better opposition and he didn't really change his way that much, to influence the game. However he grew a little bit as the game went on, fair play.
I still think it shows how good Dalglish has been for the players since he come back. Because lets face it, we still have a lot of average players in that side, but because of Dalglish we have been getting 110% out of them up to now.
The players looked invent-less at times and the link between midfield and attack was non-existent, no through balls, nothing, just side ways passing and when we did try to pass the ball forward, it was always cut out or given away.
Carroll and Suarez both looked "lonely" up front, Suarez can't do everything and neither can Carroll for that matter.
Carroll is not like Kuyt, with Suarez up front, Kuyt will work as hard as anyone and when Suarez plays up front with him....we see Suarez feature more and get more freedom.
My one argument of Suarez though is that sometimes he doesn't get his head up and be composed. But the more he plays, the more he will learn and gel with the rest of his team mates.
The one problem I have when Carroll is in the side, is not really down to him at all. The rest of our team resort back to long ball and it has never got us anywhere. It was the same when Crouch used to play for us.
But I'm not having a dig at anyone for this game, we just didn't perform as a team as well as we know we can.
Carroll and Suarez will form a partnership that will strike fear into teams the more they play together. Carroll looked leggy at times, but he has been out and even against Man City he wasn't match fit, regardless of his goals in that game.
Today also underlined to me just how much we need creativity in the summer, as well as when Gerrard is back next season, we need more, we need something else.
I don't think its just one creative player we need, it could be 2 or 3 to tell you the truth. We definitely need an Alonso-type player again (if not the man himself)
We still need a classy-clever link player between attack and defense to go along with Gerrard and a world-class winger.
Don't look at this game as a bad thing (even though we lost, and might not get Europa League now) look at it as something that will improve us in the future, Dalglish knows what we need....and we will get it, along with that title next season!
