From UEFA website:-
"UEFA has opened disciplinary proceedings against Arsenal FC forward Eduardo for deceiving the referee, following the incident that brought about a penalty for his club in Wednesday's UEFA Champions League play-off against Celtic FC in London.

Eduardo fell in the penalty area in the 26th minute of the play-off second leg, which Arsenal won 3-1. Arsenal were awarded a spot-kick from which they scored their first goal. Having studied video evidence of the incident in question, the UEFA disciplinary inspector decided to charge the player concerned. The UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body will examine the case on 1 September.

The charge is based on Article 10, para 1c of the UEFA disciplinary regulations (Misconduct of players): Players may be suspended for two competition matches, or for a specified period, for acting with the obvious intent to cause any match official to make an incorrect decision or supporting his error of judgement and thereby causing him to make an incorrect decision."

Although I hate diving, has this opened a can of worms?

Personally I am sick to death of players diving and applaud the decision.

However the problem I have is that they wont apply these rules consistently and we'll have a mish mash of rubbish from now on.

Talking of Mash, like Monster at Old Trafford two years ago. I actually didnt really have any problem with the ref sending him off given his behaviour what I have a problem with is that he was the only player punished when loads of players behaved the same way that season ... yet he was the only one to be punished.

I think it'll probably be the same with Eduardo and therefore for me the decision is [oops] and complete nonsense.

However what do we really expect from any governing body in football, same old nonsense.

It is about time something was done, But I'm sure he is not the first one even this season to have dived, Platini is an arse who hates English football. I'm sure if it was juve, inter or Madrid nothing would have been done. As for the FA They are afraid of the scum and chelski. Terry and Rooney get away with murder all season very season

platini is anti English League for a start but acting on video evidence is great.
The FA ought to use it for every match and hit clubs with player bans and the deduction of points! That will stop the cheats - pity gay-ron isn't still here as the mancs would be relegated!

yeah and the foreign players allowed per side? what's that if not to make it harder for the English sides. UEFA did the same before and Souness had to sell most of our Irish lads for dodgy English substitutes.

I think they are right to do this. Its the only way to stop it. What Eduardo did was disgraceful and if had been a Celtic player the whinging Wenger would be all for it. They have to be consistant though.

I dont believe he is anti-English. I think it is more likely that things are changing because he is young & not some old fella who is behind the times.
