I only mentioned the defense and keeper as it shows we only spent big on Johnson.
Aurellio was free and Insua we paid a couple mil for.
We have only spent big on Masch,Torres and Johnson.
Riera was about 8 mil so money well spent and same with yossi for about 7mil.
Kuyt was close to 10mil and he has been a consistent performer and chips in with enough goals from the wing.

out of our current squad-looks like only Babel was over-priced and is yet to show what he can do week in week out.

Xabi was hardly considered for international duty until he played for us! Under RB he became the player we all now know him for. He was not the nº1 target in Spain whilst playing for real sociedad either Emp! Why else did barça or unreal not snap him up before Rafa did???!!!

As for the post - Rafa has NOT been funded at all if you look at what his main rivals have been able to spend and that is the ONLY bench mark you can use to answer this question!!!

Even Spurs before Ramos (and since) has had more at his disposal than Rafa FFS!

You expect Rafa to be winning trophies when he's not got the funds of his rivals and yet you gladly slag him off for falling short! Wake up FFS!

Dont know how you can say he hates football,even his wife watches the old dvds and reads the history of Liverpool.
If you don't have a blindfold on-you will be able to see that he wants balance in the team and with INsua and JOhnson wants to attack with width.

I do have my doubts about this season however, not on the recent results, but on the strength of our squad. Look at the bench when we played Spurs and Villa - it's pathetic and without real investment we are never going to be able to compete over a whole season.

...to put another slant on things, Rafa has spent roughly £110m on building a new squad during his 5 years, when you take into account what he has recouped, yes?

£110m may sound a lot of money but when you think that our main rivals have, and continue to spend, £30m plus on an individual player, it doesn't sound so much does it?

In today's game, if you want top class players, the starting price is £30m plus - now does Rafa have this kind of money? no he hasn't and never has!

and if he hadn't made 3 times the profit on Xabi we'd not have signed Johnson nor Aquilani... not on £1,5m anyway!

you mentioned "other clubs" but what the rafa-bashers need to realise is it's the likes of chelski and the mancs who we are competing with and their squads far outweigh ours in money spent.

and to those who think Rafa should be sacked I say this:

I think Reira is lazy and should of been ofloaded in the summer, just hoping he gets a few games for Spain in the World Cup so we can get a few bob for him. Mascherano as i have stated on numerous occasions is woeful, pound for pound our worst ever signing to date even worse than Keane, and before the Mascherano police get on to me I will explain why. The man tackles which is fine no problem but if all you want in a midfielder for Liverpool Football Club is someone who can only do that then dont be talking about winning league Championships because you wont be seeing any while he plays in the team.
I personaly dont think any of our team are good enough until they win the league and I include Gerrard and Torres in that, until players actualy win the league that is the only time you can say they are good enough otherwise you are just guessing that there good enough.
If you asked me to go through the team I will give you an honest assessment. Reina good keeper great shot stopper cant deal with crosses and his decision making and command of the box is at times drwadful, fantastic kicker and sweeper though, I put him second to Given in the league. Agger fantastic potential Alan Hansenesq injuries stop him progressing though, Skirtel strong and solid no frills not played enough to properly judge yet, Carragher sorry I know he's a crowd favourite but when people ask me why Liverpool have'nt won the league for so long i tell them it's because Carragher has played nearly 600 games for the club which is a disgrace considering he cant kick a ball down Everton Valley not because of him just that when you have Carragher as one of your best players it says everything about your team, would'nt of got anywhere near Liverpool's reserve team years ago never mind the first team, Liverpool fans used to laugh at Everton for having Carragher type players years ago like Billy Wright and Mark Higgins when we had Lawrenson's, Hansens and Gillespies even Glenn Hysen now we call him a legend, my my how the mighty have fallen, having said that I would never sell Carragher he's great lad and would make an ideal Stevie Nicol type player which is what he should of been throughout his career.
Johnson looks good jury still out, Kuyt hard working box to box fantastic attitude never be a winger while he has a hole in his a*se, Benyoun seems to get better and better every game, Reira and Mascherano I have talked about, Babel fantastic potential just does'nt believe in himself enough, time running out for him unfortunately. Lucas what can i say about him admire the lad so much, the crowds whipping boy and scapegoat if something ever is to go wrong it will happen to Lucas, he has had in his short Liverpool career more bad luck than some players have in the whole career's, injuries,bookings, sendings off's and own goal's the thing which is so good is that he never ever complains and more importantly never ever hides deserves enermous credit and some good fortune surely with what he goes through he must have something special about him to keep going on.
Gerrard, well I have made my feeling about him clear, cant stand the feller, dislike everthhing about the man and he should be behind bars now, footballing wise he for me is the best all round player in the world, he has it all, I personaly dont think he is special in one position or that he is world class like alot of people say but there is nobody better at what he does.
Torres for me has the potential to be the best striker in the world he will never do it playing for Liverpool because Liverpool will never provide him with the platform to reach those heights similar to what Gerrard's situation is, would put Torres just behind Drogba as the best striker in the league, we need to enjoy the lad while we can because he will be off at the end of this season or deffo next.
