house have you ever watched rugby? i got into it in the last couple of years and i have to say when i watch a game, and then flick over later in the day to watch the football, im embarrassed about the poor decisions that are made, and the amount of scumbatg behaviour and injustice in the sport.

the introduction of technology doesnt mean they stop the game for everything. in rugby its only used to determine tries, thats all. as for tackles/ incidents off the ball etc, i cant understand why the 4th official is not wired up to the ref and actively partaking in decision making.

the trouble with soccer is it seems to embrace the contraversy that exists purely because it is allowed to, thus making it an often undignified sport full of injustice, cheats and knackers.

I'm really curious as to why so many people think referring decisions takes a lot of time. Have you never watched a game of tennis since they implemented challenges? It takes seconds to get a decision, and most of that time is just for the audience who can watch the thing on giant monitors in the stadium. Why should it lengthen a football game by 7 to 8 minutes? I think you're all merely opposed to change.

I think that getting the big decisions correct would only benefit the game. Goal line technology would not slow down the game if the match continued as if no goal was scored while the incident is being reviewed. If the decision is that it was a goal, then the game stops and goes to the centre circle for tip off. The scoreboard could indicate to the fans and players that the incident is under review. It would stop all the moaning and surrounding of the officials which slows the game down anyway.

I think something else that should be introduced is allowing the manager to question a decision during the game or highlight an incident such as Rooney's elbow in the Wigan match, Drogba's offside goal aginst ManU last year or the beech ball goal against Liverpool. The number of queries by the manager is limited to one in the game and if the manager was proven right then he gets to retain his chance to question a decision or else if he was wrong he looses the chance.

This can only help officials get the decisions right, it is not taking away their control.

As a rugby league fan I have attended quite few matches where the Video ref is present(only televised matches have video refs),the use of the video ref can take seconds to make a judgement on the the incident in question. This can also take minutes I think the record is just under 2 minutes to make a decision. It all depends on camera views, picture quality and the video refs interpretation of the incident because he has the final say.One thing it would stop though is all the divers and cheats in the game.

There is one other thing that the Rugby League have and that is a review board. This is where if an incident occurs during the game and the ref knows something has happend but never seen what happend(like rooney when he elbowed Lado from Wigan), he can put it on repport and this then goes to an independant review panel, they then make the decision on what punishment dish out to the offender. This has nothing to do with the sports governing body(the RFL) so there can be no outside influence ie Taggart!
