I agree completely with Fowler78, if we get into the Europa don`t even bother putting out the first team, play the up and coming youngsters and those returning from injury. A full all out assault on the league is what`s required.

I'd be happy with a top 4 finish and in contension for the league until at least feb.

Yeah - that's gunner-style, and we're better than them. 4th is definitely on for them with City winning yesterday. Having picked up all of 9 points in their last 8 matches, and losing in the FA Cup, CL, and League Cup final during the same period their morale must be shot to pieces, especially since all this is mostly after going ahead during each game. They only have themselves to blame and they know it by now.

To add to the thread topic: I think next season we should concentrate on finishing 3rd. I'm not convinced we will be able to mount a title challenge even if we get most of our transfer targets, simply because it takes time for new players to settle in. Kenny has worked wonders this season, but next season (assuming he's still manager) he's coming in with a squad in a totally different situation as regards morale and expectation. Right now they're focussed on pride and salvaging something from the season, so everyone is in 100%. If they feel they've succeeded, feel buoyed more by hope than the fruits of their labours, then the pressure eases, which will make motivating them to the same levels a little more difficult.

Obviously I want to see us up there trading blows with United and Chelsea, but we're about 12 players short of a squad that can do it over 38 games + cups.

Fair point thundyr. I think most fans including me are just hopeing to be in the title race and thats all. Expectations will obviously be very high amongst us if we indeed end up with a couple of key signings but as man city has showed, money won't buy happiness. I believe in King kenny though and that is the major difference between us and city and also we are a team that have tasted many successes in the past unlike city. We could or could not be in the championship picture next season but mark my words, it will be alot of an improvement to those past 2 disapointing seasons.

It's all well and good saying that but use your brain for sec, if you tell 20+ players your all gonna win the title next year and then they're out of it by christmas then morale is going to be shot to bits (and look what that's done to Arsenal). We havn't got the first 11 or the squad to compete with United and Chelsea as of yet, hopefully the first 11 will be come the first game of next season but you have to manage expectations until we are a force again. I think 3rd or 4th is a realistic aspiration if we bring in a couple of quality signings and avoid the europa league.
