Shelvey did well when he came on and I'm a big non shelvey fan , in the sense that he is hyped all the time and doesnt do much, however lucas didn't do much in his first 3 years but today he was putting himself about a bit and earning his status, he does sensible passes shelvey and did a few incisive passes today, ronnie whelan and steve machmahon worked well together. Still the are young and will improve

i take it he scored. i only saw a bit of the match today, hilights of it are coming on in a minute or two, but i assume he scored.

Well *that* was an interesting game! My man, Maxi, did me proud. lol. I'll be honest though the reason we played so much better was:
1. Suarez had a much better game (but he's getting too desperate to score a goal now - his every finish is poor)
2. Meireles is SO much better in the middle
3. Kuyt was everywhere, and he even beat players on occasion
4. Another very solid performance from the back 4
5. Lucas and Spearing
6. We remembered how to pass and move

Maxi simply reaped the rewards of these things, and it would have been nicer had Joe Cole been a bit happier about scoring a goal.

Question: is Reina punching away long, powerful shots a new answer to fumbling (ala Maxi's first)?

Maxi is the least of our worries in my opinion. He's one of the dead wood but he's no worse than poulsen, konchesky, ngog, etc. Kick those guys out before thinking about him.
