Each time when we were losing ( against Spurs & Villa ) and we needed to win, Rafa drop Gerrard to midfield and play another striker up front with Torres.

Now, if this change works in getting a result, why didn't Rafa just start the game with this formation? Why stick with Lucas in the central role?

As there is still no replacement for Alonso, and i don't think there's going to be one this summer transfer, why not play Gerrard in Alonso's place?

Rafa may argue that the Torres/Gerrard combo has been proven last season , so why change?

But the question back to Rafa is, Who's best to marshall the midfield now if its not our captain?

I think he should try it for Bolton. It would probably mean he'd have to play Babel though if he isn't off rapping somewhere. If Riera is fit he could go left with Yossi in the middle off Torres. It wouldn't mean that Gerrard couldn't get forward just be a bit more dissaplined with getting back. He could then change back when Aquilani id fit.

yes, but i think GERRARD GOING FORWARD INTO THE BOX is a great strenght, and is we dnt use gerrard going forward, we look we in attack i think.

Lets just wait for Aquilani to get up and about

i like the formation of Yossin in the middle playing of Torres. but Babel on the left? think Yossin is better.

riera left wing, Kuyt right, with Benni/Babel supporting Torres. Gerrard in the middle with mash.

Or try Spearing instead of Lucas and leave Gerrard upfront.

BUT if Rafa decides to do this now, whatever promise he and the staff believe Lucas to have (he's still VERY young remember!) Lucas' confidence will be ruined possibly beyond repair. Look at the likes of furguscum, wenger and how they have stuck with players even though we, the Joe Publics, couldn't understand why, only for that player to become one of the best in the Premier! Difficult one innit!

I agree with KOPitiam. The best option we have for the middle right now is Our Captain.

If only rafa would listen to us....
