May seem strange but we could make a nice tidy proffit from his 1st season. To me he scores and not much else he doesnt dictate play or influence it much and doesnt do much to break up opposition play. Him and gerrard want to do the same thing but Gerrard can do much more. The money made could let as buy sissoko and give a bit to allow the purchase of a great passer. I dont see how he and gerrard can play in the same team unless gerrard plays on right and gerrard if we think about it rather than in just the short term is far better. You may say hes not done as much last 2 seasons however we havent had much decent possesion in this time and if we look at his england form its better than ever. If we can get a functioning midfield with some width ie ashley young behind are exciting strike force he will play like the old stevie. lucas can be used as a back up when hes out or coady, pacheo, suso or if we keep cole

It's a big FAT no from me mate, we need a big squad to challenge the top four and i'm sure Raul and Stevie can both be accommodated.

Gerrard is older and coming to the end of his career, and also lazier at times. So I'm not sure that Gerrard CAN do more. In the past, yes. The other thing is that I don't think we'd get that much more than the 11m we paid for him. I don't see anyone coming in to pay 20m for him this summer.
If we're going to play a one behind the striker system long term, then we need someone who can play there for years to come and improve. We have Suarez who could possibly do that. But Gerrard is probably only going to get worse year after year from now on, and maybe has 3 years left, 4 if he's lucky.
Im not sure he offers taht much playing behind the striker though im not sure but i dount his assists are 2 spectculaur. Like the ball Gerrard played to suarez agaisnt west ham he can just pick them from nowhere. We could keep raul but i dont think the two can play together from what ive seen because raul offers to little when the balls not in the box.

Are you on crack? He has been our best player this season by a mile we need more of his standard or higher. The overall quality of the squad must be raised and you will not do that by selling your best players.

emp, your spot on. This thread and the posters opinion are insane. we need to be adding to the squad, not replacing like for like. get rid of poulsen, and then buy someone whos gona push for a 1st team place
