moores could of sold to DIC and we would of spend lots of money on good players altho, benitez bought some good players in , alonso, torres, arbeloa was solid, masch even tho he turned out another scumbag imo, and reina, babel had alot of promise just never had the right attitude or the belief from his managers, then all the crap he brought in, as the above said after we sold alonso and arbeloa we stagnated and he benitez was rightfully dismissed, however roy hodgson getting appointed was a big big mistake kenny should of got the job back in the summer

IF you mean winning trophies and having glory then there are about only 10% of todays footballers who want this. The vast majority are in it for the money. So have we failed to match their ambitions? Paying them 70-120k a week sure gives them alot of ambition to play for the team so no, not at all.

Torres linking the sale of Alonso and Mascherano as one of reasons for him going.

I personaly have nothing against Torres leaving the reasons he gave if they are true are are fair and realistic, Liverpool Football Club unfortunately were never ever going to provide Torres with the platform to win the games biggest honours and that they say is that no matter how much it hurts. The problem Torres had was all about his timing, I think he made up his mind to leave a while ago, he was banking on a good world cup to put himself in the shop window and when he had a disasterous tournament it backfired badly and he had to return to a Club he simply did not want to be at, this was reflected in his performances all season and his terrible body language and sulking.

Isn't the title of this thread a misnomer? If the club hasn't achieved its ambitions, then it's largely the fault of the "top" players!

Mascherano was a massive loss, and I do feel bitter towards him, have vented my feelings in previous posts. His reasons for leaving were pathetic. Our midfield is simply ineffectual now. The last couple of weeks have seen an upturn for our club but whilst Lucas and Poulsen remain first or even second choices in the fulcrum of the team, we won't achieve any meaningful success.
