(sorry again but am so p!ssed )

A day when we break the transfer record to sign one of English footballs brightest emerging talents, who was highly sought after by clubs in a better position than us, is never a sad day for the club.
Especially when we are not even considered top 4 anymore, and especially when our spending power has been called into question. Definitely not a sad day, anything but!

And you speak of a player of Carrolls calibre? Please elaborate? A striker who is young, strong, has great movement in the box, excellent technique, good link up play and a better than a goal every 2 games ratio in his debut premiership season is usually considered of quite a good calibre.
And price? Utd paid similar money for a similar player with a worse goal ratio at the time in Rooney. Was that a sad day for Utd? Maybe some thought it was, but a few league titles and cups later, their fans certainly dont think so now...

The thing is we now have 2 strikers for the money and we haven't really spent anything because of the 50 mill we got from Torres. It's not a sad day at all because the squad has been strengthened and FSG have done what they said they wourld do....invest in youth with big potential. Torres is nearly 27, Carroll is 22, Suarez is 24 so I think we are ahead.
Also because we only spent a mill now, we have more to invest in the summer when the market is more stable. Yes clubs may ask for a bit more but FSG know what they're doing.

I'm chuffed to bits with how it's all turned out, I've loved watching Torres when he was on his game, but more often than not I've been watching him walking around the pitch with his lip tripping him. At least in Carroll we have a guy who when the chips are down will knock hell out of their ctr-halves just like I'd want to do. I am not a good loser and when my team are losing I don't sulk I get angry!
Ask our boys at the back what they thought of playing against Carroll a few weeks back.....
On the fee, I couldn't care less because there are far better informed people than me deciding where our money goes, if they decide that's where it goes then so be it!

If you want to put it in better terms we broke the club record transfer fee twice in one day.

I have to disagree with this thread. Accoding to El Sulkio he left to win things, aka Owen (went well there then). so why has he also got a massive pay rise then..
We get a full wallet even if it was only for about 15 minutes and we spent it on two strikers who have a massive potential. we also still have some cash in the wallet for further additions in the summer so we have done well in my opinion

Tell you the truth: I love the club and have for 40 years, but this is the first time I have been really excited about something we have done in 20 years, barring one night in Istanbul... laugh

Just watch the red supporters come out of the woodwork now!
