sorry to start a new thread but i feel very strongly about this topic.
at this precise momment i can say i am ashamed with the action of the club in buying a player of caroll's calibre for 35m. this is way over the top and feel we well be a laughing stock, and i can not bare to see that happen. this is the kind of thing city and the chav do but not my liverpool. i have no problem with us buying caroll but the price tag is wrong. if this is not a one off then it is a sad day for the club.
(sorry again but am so p!ssed )
A day when we break the transfer record to sign one of English footballs brightest emerging talents, who was highly sought after by clubs in a better position than us, is never a sad day for the club.
Especially when we are not even considered top 4 anymore, and especially when our spending power has been called into question. Definitely not a sad day, anything but!
And you speak of a player of Carrolls calibre? Please elaborate? A striker who is young, strong, has great movement in the box, excellent technique, good link up play and a better than a goal every 2 games ratio in his debut premiership season is usually considered of quite a good calibre.
And price? Utd paid similar money for a similar player with a worse goal ratio at the time in Rooney. Was that a sad day for Utd? Maybe some thought it was, but a few league titles and cups later, their fans certainly dont think so now...
